Cream Substitute for Gain Shakes

Gainers often include cream in gain shakes. Cream is good in gain shakes, because it contains a high proportion of fat. It is also relatively easy to digest, because it is secreted by cows and is intended to be consumed and digested by calves. The reason why cream is easy to digest is because its fats are emulsified.

The problem with cream is that it contains a high proportion of saturated fats, which may lead to health problems in later life. Here is the recipe for a cream substitute that contains a higher proportion of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, and a lower proportion of saturated fats, than cream.

For each pint of cream substitute, you will need:

Here's how to mix it:

Add the lecithin to the milk. Add oil and mix. You can mix with anything from a blender to a spoon. The oil and milk will combine into a milky white liquid.

Add this to a shake in place of cream.

If storing this mix, the oil and water separate over time, so the mix needs to be remixed. If it is kept in a clean plastic milk bottle, the mixing may be accomplished by simply shaking the bottle.
