Android 8

The first successful android developed by the Red Ribbon Army. Quite powerful and strong as well. #8 is built with an inbuilt rocket attack which is capable of a great deal of damage. During Goku's battle with #8, Goku is almost killed when suddenly #8 becomes humane, and realizes that violence is not the way to go. Goku and #8 becomes good friends, however, #8 is later killed by the Red Ribbon general when #8 is protecting Goku.

Android 13

#13, #14 and #15 are on a mission to kill Goku, an order from Dr Gero. #13 is the leader of the group, he is the fastest, most powerful and the most intelligent of all. #13 is programmed so he knows everything about Goku, every single movement, also Goku's fighting technique and tactics too. He is also programmed to kill who ever gets in their way, where Trunks, Vegeta, Gohan and Krillin are then involved too.

Android 14

An extra muscular android, large and powerful. #14 is teamed up with #13 and #15 on a mission to kill Goku. He is extremely strong, so strong that he can block Trunk's sword attack by grabbing the sword between his two fingers. #14 has the strength, but not the skills. He relies too much on his strength but not the speed. He is killed when Trunks chops him in half.

Android 15

#15 is one of the group members teamed up with #13 and #14. Might be small, but is never intimidated. Just like #13, he has the ability to read Goku's every movement. However, #15 comes in a more complete package than #13 or #14, he has a small, portable liquor bottle which holds an energy drink which can boost his power/energy. A extremely smart android, but not powerful enough. #15 is beheaded by Vegeta, and then explodes into pieces.

Android 16

#16 first appears around the same time #17 and #18 appear. #16 is meant to be a beta machine, or an experiment, therefore #16 is never really ready to be released. However Dr Gero still releases him, just to see how well he performs. Like most of the other androids, his mission is to assassinate Goku. However, before #16 has the chance to take down Goku, he meets Cell, an even more powerful android. Cell easily beats the wire out of #16 and left him half paralyzed. Luckily, Dr Brief (Bulma's father) saves #16 from destruction and reprograms him to become a part of the Z team that fights with Goku.

One thing #16 is different from all other androids is that he doesn't fight unless it is necessary. Apparently #16 also has a good relationship with Krillin because it is Krillin who saves him from getting killed by Cell. However, #16 is still killed at the end (beheaded, then crushed) when battling Cell during the Cell tournament.

Android 17

#17 looks just like an ordinary human from the outside, but underneath is a psycho relentless killing robot. He has a twin sister (#18) which is just as deadly as himself. #17 is one of the most powerful and successful androids ever built by Dr Gero. Under the control of Dr Gero, #17 eventually has enough of being controlled and no freedom, hence he rebels and kills Dr Gero. This way the androids are set free and are free to do whatever they like. Killing and destroying things becomes his hobby, and he isn't willing to quit until the human race is completely wiped out. #17 is powered by a self generating energy source, which means he has unlimited energy.

In the original future, the #17 and #18 takes out most of the Z team including Piccolo, Vegeta, Krillin, Tien, where the only Z survivors are Trunks and Gohan (Goku already died from a heart disease at that time). However, the androids are eventually taken out by Trunks after he arrives back from the past via the Time Machine).

However, #18 life is completely changed when Cell arrives. Cell, dominating the Z fighters in everyway imaginable, is also looking for #18. Luckily, Krillin risks his life and saves #18 from Cell. Eventually, Krillin falls in love with #18 and Krillin doesn't want her to suffer anymore. As a result, Krillin uses the power of the Shenlong to remove the self-destruction bomb inside #18, hence transforming #18 more of a human being than a robot. #18 is deeply touched by Krillin's gesture and the power of love and her own humanity has made her to erase her evil personality, and becomes a part of the Z team.

Krillin and #18 are later married, and they have a daughter called Marron.

Android 19

#19 is Dr Gero's personal bodyguard, a chubby, white faced android. He sticks close to Dr Gero all the time to make sure Dr Gero is not ambushed. Dr Gero reckons that #19 is the best android he has ever built but Dr Gero has obviously gotten it all wrong. Firstly, #19 isn't too intelligent, and quite slow as well. The only advantage he has over some of the other androids Dr Gero has built is that #19 has the ability to absorb the opponent's energy, and adds them on top of his own. Apart from that, everything else is poor. #19 cannot recharge his own energy, hence the energy runs out. Vegeta eventually exploits #19's weaknesses, and then is killed by him.

Android 20 - Dr.Gero

#20, also known as Dr Gero, begins his career as a famous scientist working for the Red Ribbon Army. His brilliant invention skills leads him into developing artificial intelligent, hence moves on to creating androids. In the beginning, most of the androids he has created are failures and none of them are functioning properly. Eventually, when Goku infiltrates the Red Ribbon Army, and Red Ribbon Army needs more soldiers, Dr Gero has no other choice and deploys his first android, Android #8.

Dr Gero, sees little success with #8, has the evil thoughts in his mind that if he develops better androids, he might be able to use them not just to fight, but to conquer. Hence Dr Gero heads back to his lab, and starts to develop stronger androids. In a few years time, he has created #13, #14, #15, #16, #17, #18 and #19. Dr Gero, also turns himself into an android, by implement his brain into a custom made robot shell, and becomes Android #20. All the androids he has created have the same primary objective, either to kill Goku, or to conquer the universe.

However, the success does not last long for Dr Gero. Obviously Dr Gero does not aware that the androids might become rebellious, and his carelessness ultimately leads to his death, when #17 suddenly rebels and beheads him.

After the death of Dr Gero, the main computer in his lab continues to function, and takes on Dr Gero's role to create even more powerful androids. Cell is later created by Dr Gero's computer.
