Terminal 5 was an important show for me. My father died on september 29th
just a few months prior to the concert, and I needed Dir en grey more than
anything. It was also the first of many shows we would attend with Cyn, who
flew all the way up from Texas to go with us. It was a good show, though it
was not without its problems. This would be Degnat's first show as an
organized street team. We spent a LOT of money on this particular show.
We made up 50 goodie bags of Degnat merchandise to the first 50 people to
sign up with Degnat. Later that day we held a raffle. Each of the bags we gave
out had a number on it, and we pulled numbers out of a bag, and whoever had
that bag, won a Degnat member t-shirt. All the Degnat staff members also had
Degnat Staff t-shirts on. We were well organized, and caught the attention of Dir
en grey's manager who made his way to the line out front to observe during the
raffle. We gave him an extra goodie bag we had, which contained a Degnat pin,
sticker, flyer, buisness card, bracelet, and magnet. The line kind of sucked for a
few reasons. They split the line in half, due to construction. Hlf the line was in front
of the venue and the other half was under an overpass. The people under the
overpass were NOT happy, so we started the raffle down there, to give them something
to do and make them feel more like part of the line. We had some issues with people
trying to sneak into the front of the line, but we managed to keep it under control
working with the venue staff. The show itself was as expected, amazing. It was my
first show with Kyo's kanji tattooed on my arm, and it took about an hour and a half of
my arm in the air for him to aknowledge it. We were treated to a surprise meet and
greet with all 5 band member, which is pretty rare. Afterward, we all limped outside.
We managed to cram 6 people into a PT Cruiser to get a ride back to the train station
in the rain. It was hysterical, but fun. Overall, despite some minor discomfort, and some
line drama, the show was a great success for Degnat.
