The Cave

We open this episode with Kero whining about how he has to stay home when everyone else is on vacation. Sakura's relaxing at the beach with all her friends as part of a summer field trip to the beach to see a shrine in a cave. Chelsea wants to play volleyball and Sakura says that she'll join in. Zachary puts in his two cents about how Volleyball was played by the hawaiians with heavy coconuts. They talk about how close Chelsea and Zachary were as cousins. They also play some other games as well, and they use a net to catch fish with.

That night, Sakura and her group talk about the shrine tomorrow. Then Niiki gets into this ghost story, which Zachary told her and it scares sakura out of her wits. "There was this group of kids, just like us...and they went to the cave, just like us..and". Mr. Terrada pops in and tells them lights out.

Sakura can't sleep so she decides to take a little walk and finds Li outside staring in the direction of the cave. She asks him about things and Li tells her that he was there earlier and he sensed something. Sakura asks if it's a clow card and Li doesn't think so. Then Sakura gets terrified and asks if it could be a ghost. Li's a little irritated but Sakura changes the subject and we learn that Li is from Hong Kong and he came with Wei, a sensei entrusted with taking care of Li. Li leaves and Sakura goes back to get some sleep.

The next day, everyone was at the mouth of the cave and Madison asked Sakura if she remembered her offering. Sakura didn't but Madison covered by giving Sakura an offering Madison had extra. Mr. Terrada explained it to the children that they have to go into the cave in groups of 2 or three to see the shrine.

They all went in, in their groups and they walked to the shrine. Sakura and Madison looked around, and noticed that not too many people were around which was odd, because there was a whole bunch of people there. No one was coming back from the shrine which was a little creepy. Suddenly they hear Chelsea crying out for help. Sakura and Madison run up to her, she was in a state of panic. Chelsea and Rita told that Nikki has disappeared and then Nikki faded away. Chelsea disappeared as well and Sakura and Madison are really scared now.

Madison tells that they should go get help and then she suddenly vanished as well, leaving Sakura all alone. Sakura runs to Li to tell her story Li replies that Zachary disappeared as well. They come to the conclusion that it's a clow card and they go to the bridge which is now burned down thanks to a fallen candle. Sakura uses the float card to get over there and Li fades away.

Sakura realizes that it's the erase card and she captures it while it erases Li. When she captures it, Li returns to normal. She decides to give the Card to Li but he refuses. They go back to the other side of the bridge again and meet Rita, Chelsea and Nikki who don't remember anything thanks to the power of erase.

Li still doesn't think Sakura is worthy of becoming the master but is more civil to her. They then go do a volleyball game.

KERO'S CORNER

Kero begins by pumping the crowd with his hellos and greetings and tells about the super secret information that this episode has in store. In this one, Kero talks about the school swimsuit which is also uniformed and emblazoned with the school crest. He goes on by telling the normal clothes worn at the beach which are also uniform. He then wraps up another great episode.

Todd's Thoughts

Todd Arcana's Rating:    4.0 / 5.0   ^.^

This was a great episode! Li's actually starting to act a little civil to Sakura and is warming up to the idea that Sakura is actually going to be good at capturing the clow cards. We also learn a bit on Li's family and life. I used a japanese episode script to help me summarize the episode and There was actually a lot of script editing here. Originally it was "Sakura's Scary Courage Test" and it was a test of courage and not an educational field trip.
