It all begins with a dream, you know... one of those dreams where Sakura is dressed in her judgement clothes and looking at the radio tower, waiting for something and looking at tons of clow cards, she tries to see who she's watching when she wakes up. Another seemingly normal day...
She wakes up and goes downstairs to her family, or more importantly, to her breakfast. She goes on to a monologue about herself when Tori is introduced. Tori is her older brother and...he bugs her about being a dinosaur which makes her think what it would be like to crush him under her foot. Aiden is also introduced and Sakura starts going on about her deceased mother... nothing has changed.
Now we take a look at her rollerblading, what style. We see the famous scene where she leaves her house and rollerblades "Just around the corner" to the rollerblading song. The sakuras rain down on her as she blades down the street. She hopes she can catch a glimpse of Julian and he is introduced.
Sakura is now at her school and Madison is introduced. She's kind but a bit... strange...Now we see Sakura in class, thinking to herself about the dream and penciling in a doodle of the yellow thing she saw by her side (Kero) and Sakura is suddenly asked to read out loud and Madison saves the day by telling what page they were on.
Sakura is now in cheerleading and she practices throwing her baton and thinks about Kero again. She looks up and her baton changes into the sealing wand!! It catches Sakura off guard and hits her on the head, ouch.
School is now
finished and she walks home. She enters her house to notice a note saying
Aiden won't be home until later. She gets something to eat then she hears
some wierd noises in the basement. She arms herself with her baton and
carefully sneaks up to the basement door and enters, hoping it isn't a
burglar. It isn't but she finds a wierd book amoung others that's glowing
and reads "The Clow."
She opens it and finds the windy
card and the mist gathers. Shen she says "Windy" a huge gale is summoned
and all of the cards scatter out of the book and fly away.
(Whoops!)
She finds Kero, a yellowish lion/rat like creature with wings floating out from the book and joyously greets her. This freaks Sakura a bit and asks about it. Kero introduces himself and tells her about the Clow cards and all that stuff and then freaks, seeing the cards all gone. He appoints Sakura the next cardcaptor but she objects, asking why he didn't protect them and he replies, "I was taking a nap" Sakura asks how long and he replied. "30 years."...and so it begins...
Sakura eats supper with her family and runs upstairs to converse with Kero. Kero tells her most of the info she needs to start out but she objects again. Sakura and Kero argue a bit and Kero makes Sakura so a contract-like chant to recieve the Wand goes to the window to shut it, seeing the Fly card's visable form.
They run to where the Fly card is, pajamas and all and Sakura summons the Sealing wand. Fly takes notice and whirlwinds her away, kero saved her but now Fly is on the warpath! Sakura attempts to skate away with Fly gaining and she uses a ramp like hill to jump onto Fly's body. Fly takes to the sky and Sakura uses the Windy card to restrain it. Fly crashes down and she seals it.
Sakura takes the card and tells Kero. "I don't know if I want to do this..." but Kero assures her she'll do fine and tells her to use the fly card. She does, and Sakura and Kero are now flying high in the sky!
KERO'S CORNER!!!! ^.~
We open with Kero announcing his kawaii little section and tells how it will cover info on the neater things of card capturing. He goes on to talk about the pyjamas that Sakura wears and goes in for a closeup. They also talk about the school uniforms. Kero then adds his two cents and wraps up the first episode.
* They made it out as kind of like,
a flashback for Sakura which wasn't too bad a move for the position they
were in!
Okay...now for my part.
Todd Arcana's Rating: 4.4 / 5.0 ^_^
This was a great start for the season,
we have lots of info and we now know how the show really started. I thought
it was a good episode...so why didn't they show it instead of "Sakura's
Rival?" That was when Li entered the scene...I guess they wanted to tell
guys who liked it that Sakura isn't the only card captor on the show so
it would appear more gender friendly. Don't get me wrong though, Li is
not supposed to be as important as Melvana or anyone else made him out
to be.
