Magus is the best magic - user in the game. His Shadow magic is VERY powerful. He's acctually a dark wizard from 600 A.D. trying to take over Guardia, and, without you, the kingdom would have fallen to his skeleton armies. When you face him in his castle, he is trying to summon Lavos, seeking revenge for his past. Later in the game you meet his former self, Janus. The prince of Zeal and brother to Schala. You wouldn't think it at first, because the people in Zeal don't believe his has magic. He is acctually a pretty rude little boy and his only friends are his sister Schala and his cat, Alfador. He was thrown into the future where he was trained in the Magic Arts by Ozzie. Since then his quest is to seek revenge on Lavos, as you see later. You meet him is Zeal, but he is known as the 'prophet'. He tricks Zeal and stays at her side until, at the ocean palace, Lavos is awakened. He give a futile attempt to kill Lavos, but does not succeed. Later you can pick him up into your party.
