BEES AND BUTTERFLIES

Throughout the film there are many instances of bee and butterfly themes. Here's what I mean:

	Often the uniformed look of the fire children reminds me of bees. They all seem to have specialized jobs; guards, fighters, daily work such as lighting up areas and waking up the royality. Queen Hyperia is definitily the "Queen Bee" and Malta is obviously the one who will succeed her as "Queen Bee". Also, notice that none of the fire children really seem to be male or female, only Malta? This goes further into the theme of bees.

Apparently like real bees, the fire children themselves can't have children, only the queen. As shown when Malta changes to her queen form, not only can she now make fire on her own, but also fire children that then tend to her. Plus that maybe the reason why she becomes bigger and *ahem* equipped. If you don't know what the last sentence about being equipped meant, then you don't need to have it explained to you! *^_^* Even the palace of Hyperia looks like a jagged bee hive where everyone lives. You can see it in the picture at left, a concept picture (a picture not in the film).

And as you can see, not only did Malta have the characteristics of a bee, but also a butterfly. Her wings are butterfly like at right in another concept picture (yes it is a concept pic; her wings are yellow in this pic and they were blue in the film). The mere fact that she was a fire child that could not make her own flames and couldn't make fire children shows how she's like a caterpillar before it goes to a cocoon. Malta had a cocoon formed over her by magic because of the effects of the eclispe (she apparently didn't make that happen; it just did because she's heir to the kingdom of fire), and then she emeraged as the new queen like a butterfly who can now reproduce. The whole cocoon thing is like a butterfly.
