Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask

Mamoru (or Darien in the American series), otherwise known as Tuxedo Mask, has been around since the beginning of the show. He is the senshi protector and goes to great lengths to keep them all safe.

In the anime, he appeared in the first episode and saved Sailor Moon. Tuxedo mask is driven by a dream of a princess telling him to find the silver imperium crystal. The senshi don't know if he is good or evil, because he is also after the rainbow crystals and goes to great lengths to get them and keep them. This is also because of the dream. The senshi finally discover that he is the man Usagi (Serena) depises so much: Mamoru Shields (Last name in the American dub series).

During the fight with Beryl, Usagi comes to find out that Mamoru is her true love or soulmate, which every you prefer. The senshi and the lovers also discover more about their past on the Moon Kingdom. Unfortunatly, Mamoru dies during the battle and when he is brought back to life, he doesn't remember anything about the senshi, his idenity as Tuxedo Mask, or about Usagi and him being soulmates.

After he is brought back to life, the fighting soul of Mamoru takes over protecting the senshi. At the end of the sub-series (Doom Tree), Mamoru discovers once again that he is Usagi's Soulmate and Tuxedo Mask.

Later on in the series, the senshi, Sailor Moon, and Tuxedo Mask travel to the future and discover that Chibi-Usa (Rini) is their daughter from the future. They also discover that they are the future King and Queen of Crystal Tokyo.

Mamoru continues to protect the senshi throughout the anime series, and in the manga. Usagi and his love never dies (even though he goes to America to study, and she dates Seiya for a short time in the Sailor Stars season).
