Hawthorn Corp. of Illinois own, trains and rent elephants and big cats to circuses and performance venues in the United States and Canada. They own 19 elephants and 80 some tigers and one lion. Their record of animal abuse and neglect is completely unacceptable.

Delhi
According to the USDA report summary posted online "Delhi had an open, draining, and bleeding wound on her nail. The area above the nail was swollen. The cuticles on both of her front feet were very overgrown. Delhi was limping in pain and favored her leg during the performance. Delhi had severe tissue damage to the front feet and several abscessed areas on her body, including areas on both hips, between the eyes, the anterior portion of the ear attachment, on her head, the elbows of both front legs, and the tail. Chemical burns on Delhi's feet were the result of the use of undiluted formaldehyde to soak Delhi's feet. On March 4, 2002, Delhi was found in a "serious health emergency." Both of her front legs were twice their normal size and were swollen up to her chest. She could not bend her front legs at the elbows, was reluctant to bear weight on her front legs, and had difficulty in walking."

The elderly Delhi is 67 years old. She probably refused to do the tricks because it most likely hurts her. She has been performing for most of her life. Her trainer, John Caudill III, soaked her feet in formaldehyde to show old Delhi that it would hurt even worse if she did not perform the stupid tricks. Caudill II was witnessed by children, parents and news reporters, beating the late Tyke, another tragic Hawthorn victim, until she cried out and knelt down on three legs. Who knows what else the evil Caudill Family has done to these victims in private. John Caudill I, II , III have NOT been charged with severe animal cruelty, but everyone agrees that they should be. It is important to demand from the following agencies and those listed on the contact page, they (Especially the III) he be convicted of felony animal cruelty and sent to prison. Evidence esxists that people like the Caudills, who teach their young children to inflict pain and suffering on the innocent, are mentally challenged.
