Prophecy

The old scarlet book, edged in gold, laid on the table. A pale hand, ghost-like, flicked it open. While searching for the page it needed, the figure thought of what he was here for.

~Akieya is the Silver Planet. It has been said that evil from the Dark Moon will come to it. With Queen Hadna ill and King Rytak dying of a snakebite, Akieya needs all the help it can get. Prince Diev and Princess Nykra cannot hold up much longer. Especially not against the powers of Uuan, emperor of the Dark Moon.~

The person located the right page. It bent forward to read.

*When the Silver Planet is endangered by the Dark Moon, Six shall step up. The Power within them shall rise in a torrent to defeat the Dark Moon and its Emperor forever.*

*The first is a peasant. The second is a noble. The third is in exile. The fourth is of royal heritage, but is unknown. The fifth is a commoner. The sixth is...*

The figure cursed. Water stains, souvenir of seven centuries of underwater burial, blurred the page. It had a very good idea of who the first five were already. But the sixth...a trader?

It swept a cloak around itself and left. The book laid on the table, open. A soft breeze stirred the pages, bringing it to a page as water-stained as the other.

There was one difference.

This was a copy of the prophecy page. And it showed the last lines of the divination.

A smaller figure entered through a secret entrance. It knelt before the small shrine in one corner, bowed its head, then stood and hurried to the book. Reading quickly, it grinned as it examined the lines. This look soon turned to one of pure shock as it realized exactly what was written.

~But then what do the first lines mean, if it is so?~ the figure thought. It finished reading, skimming the lines and paling.

"This cannot be!" it choked in a female's voice, forgetting that a sound made in this place was death. An invisible hand squeezed her lungs. She dropped, dead before she hit the ground.

Miscellaneous: Author's Notes: This is confusing because I want it to be. Chapter one is worse: So far there's a girl who can hear what wolves think and change their thoughts to human, a seven-year-old leader of the second-largest city in Calbriea, an exiled kid whose "earth" powers cankill people and do, and...well, she's a secret and the others aren't written yet.
