Leaving Akane

"Ranma you pervert! How dare you grope Shampoo like 
that?!  That's it, our engagement is off!!!!"

Akane, fumed in anger and just punted Ranma into the koi 
pond, after spiting out those words in anger.  This 
morning, Shampoo did not show up in their walk to the 
school as usual.  It was strange but Akane was happy 
about it.  Through out the school, nothing major happened.  
No other fiancŽes showed up during classes or lunch.  

	It was a good day, till Shampoo dropped by during 
their walk back home.  She showed up in that fashion only 
Shampoo can do, on her bicycle calling "Nihio Arien!"  
And as usual ran over him and then glomped onto him.  
Akane was used to this and was ready to punt Shampoo 
away and then to deal with Ranma in her traditional way 
when she realized that Ranma seems to be returning the 
glomping and saw his hands moving towards Shampoo's very 
shapely backside.  This caught Akane by shock, although 
she always called him a pervert and hit him whenever 
Shampoo or any other girls glomping onto him, she never 
really meant it.  She was always jealous of it, but she 
never actually meant what she said.  She was just jealous 
of what the girls did with Ranma when she never got to do 
any of what she wanted to with Ranma because of the fear 
that he would reject her.

	Than seeing his hands and hearing the happy squeals 
from Shampoo, red glaze came over Akane's eyes, she just 
punted Shampoo further than she has ever punted before and 
turned her angry gaze upon Ranma.  Her eyes burning with 
anger, betrayal, hurt, and longing all mixed.  She was rather 
surprise to see something in his eyes, something like a 
longing, but than it quickly changed to anger and something 
like contempt.  

"What did you do that for?  We were having some fun you know."  

Hearing this response from Ranma, her Ranma, Ranma who was 
always there for her, who has always defended her, she felt 
lost.  She always thought that Ranma will always be there 
for her and will always be hers.  Although she never showed 
it, she was madly in love with him and was hoping that some 
day that she can show him how she felt, after he showed her 
how he felt about her.  But now, what she just heard, hearing 
how he actually enjoyed Shampoo's glomp, she felt lost.
	
"RANMA YOU PERVERT!!!" 

With the mighty battle cry she punted him toward the Tendo dojo.
	
	She ran after the now, air born Ranma Saotome.  She got 
to her house, Ranma has already landed and was now a female 
coming out of the koi pond.  

"You violent tomboy, what did you do that for?!"  

Ranma yelled at her and was about to say something more when 
Akane again punted him into the Koi pond.  

"Ranma you pervert! How dare you grope Shampoo like that?!  
That's it, our engagement is off!!!!"  

She said it more out of anger and hurt than anything else, but 
his next response was unexpected.  Ranma instead of coming out 
of the pond shouting insults, she was very calm and looking at 
Akane with very sad eyes.  

"Is that what you really want?"  

"Of course, you are a pervert and our engagement is off!"  

Akane said these words before and they have always gotten 
back together.  She wasn't really worried about the 
engagement really being broken, it never stayed that way 
for long anyway, she was just angry.  What she failed to 
see was that his earlier response to her angry declaration, 
she didn't meet it with her usual insults and such.  

"If that's how you feel then that's how it will be.  
Akane Tendo, I accept your breaking of our engagement.  
From now on, we are no longer engaged to each other and 
no longer have any responsibility to each other."  

With that Ranma walked passed now stunned Akane Tendo 
and walked to the bathroom to change back to male.  
	
	Akane was stunned and couldn't move and couldn't 
think straight.  Ranma has never responded in that way 
before, he would always either yell at her or shout some 
insults like 

"Who would want to be engaged to a violent tomboy like 
you!"  

But there was none of that insult, none of that usual 
Ranma shouting.  There was just calm voice that has 
agreed to the breaking of the engagement.  Complete 
breaking of their engagement.  Her words, which were shouted 
out of anger has now become official as Ranma completely 
broke their engagement.
	
	Akane just stood there, staring at nothing when a 
hand rested on her shoulder.  It was her sister Kasumi, 

"Oh My, what just happened here?"  

She seems to have a worried expression on her face.  

"H he just broke our engagement."  

Finally, Ranma's words and his meaning registered in her 
mind in it's full force.  She has just lost the man she 
was in love with, something she has been denying for a 
long time even from herself and only came to terms with 
it recently.  She just realized that Ranma was not going 
to apologize and become her fiancŽe again.  After all this 
hit her, she fell on her knees and started to cry, hot 
tears falling from her eyes.  

"Akane, what happened?"  

Kasumi asked, also getting on her knees and providing that 
shoulder to cry on.  

"S shampoo showed up on our way back from school, she 
glomped onto Ranma.  I was going to punt them both but 
I saw Ranma actually groping Shampoo and I was angry.  
I got Shampoo off of Ranma and punted Ranma here and 
yelled at him.  I said that our engagement was off and 
things.  Things I usually yell at him with.  H he 
actually broke the engagement."  

"Oh my!"  

It was the only response from Kasumi, the usual response 
from the eldest of the Tendo sisters.

	Nothing else happened during the day, dinner has 
gone very quietly, by now everybody knew of the broken 
engagement, but not many people paid any attention to it.  
They had this kind of thing happen too many times to be 
fooled by it.  Only two people who seems to be upset by 
it was Akane, who sneak a peek at Ranma whenever he wasn't 
paying attention and Kasumi.  After dinner, everybody 
went to do what they do.  Kasumi cleaning the table, Soun 
and Genma playing shogi, and Nabiki doing her business books.  
Akane was in her room, laying on her futon staring at her 
ceiling thinking of the day's events.  During sometime, 
she fell asleep.  When she woke up, she heard footsteps 
on the roof.  
'It must be Ranma, is he going to sneak into my room?'  
Akane knew that Ranma sometimes sneak into her room to 
look at her and left before anybody noticed.  She 
sometimes looked forward to this, so she waited for 
Ranma to come through the window to her room.  It didn't 
happen, the footsteps just went past her room and continued 
to move into the direction of Kasumi's room.  
'What's going on?  Why would Ranma go see Kasumi at this 
time of the hour?'  
She couldn't fall asleep.  Her imagination was going 
wild and it was taking her places that she didn't want 
to go.  
'What if Kasumi fell in love with Ranma and they are 
seeing each other behind my back?  What if Ranma was 
just waiting for me to break the engagement so that 
he can be engaged to Kasumi instead of me?'  
Thoughts like this and more were in her mind when she 
again drifted off to a restless sleep.

	When she came down to the breakfast table Ranma 
was not there in his usual place.  

"Where is Ranma?"  

"Oh, Akane-chan, he already left to go to school."  

"Nani?  He left without me?"  

"Well, he said that he had something to do Akane-chan."  

For the first time in a long time, Akane had to walk to 
school by herself.  She occasionally would look up to 
the fence and feel incredible sadness at Ranma not being 
there."  When she got to school she was surprised to see 
there was the hordes of boys there.  This hasn't happened 
since Ranma came.  'What's going on here'  One of the 
boys yelled, 

"Akane, we heard that you and Ranma are no longer a couple 
and that you are free, I will make you mine!"  

'What?  How did they know about that?'  
There wasn't that much time to think, the boys were 
closing on her.  Just like Ranma and his friends, Akane 
also had gotten better in her martial arts since all of 
her adventures with Ranma.  Also she was angry about the 
boys finding out about Ranma and herself.  She finished 
them all in record time.  She looked around the all the 
unconscious bodies around her when a thunder struck and 
all too familiar idiot showed up from behind the tree.  

"Akane Tendo, now that foul sorcerer has finally released 
you from his black magic, you can finally come to your true 
love, and be graced by my presence and tender mercies."  

'I'm not going to kill him, I'm just going to hurt him a 
lot.'  
Kuno, not knowing Akane's mental state ran to Akane's side 
and attempted to glomp onto her.  Akane was beyond angry, 
she could no longer think straight, she went mad with fury 
and anger and hurt.  End result was the nearly dead Kuno on 
the ground and Akane still surrounded by the infamous blue 
aura.

	She entered her classroom and saw something she didn't 
want to see, Ranma being surrounded by girls, basically all 
the girls in the class and some from another class.  He was 
actually joking with them and laughing with them.  One of her 
friend saw her and came over to her 

"Why did you break your engagement with Ranma?  He is so 
dreamy and handsome.  Now that he is no longer engaged, all 
the girls are going to go after him.  Those who aren't worried 
about Ukyou and Shampoo that is."  

"How did they find out about the engagement?  Did Nabiki tell 
you?"  

"Well actually Nabiki had nothing to do with it, it was Ranma.  
He told us that the engagement was broken."  

"R Ranma?"  

"Yeah, Ranma."  

	Akane, after learning this bit of information was 
about to walk to where Ranma was surrounded by all the 
girls, but just then Hinako sensei came in and told 
everybody to either sit down or get out or face her aura 
drain.  Althrough out class, Akane couldn't concentrate, 
she would steal a glimpse at Ranma.  Once she caught Ranma 
looking at her but turned as soon as she turn to look at him.  
'What is going on, why is he doing this to me?' 

	After class, she was going to go to Ranma to talk to 
him as soon as the class was over, but when the bell rang, 
Ranma just jumped out of the window and ran out of the 
school ground.  
'I need to talk to him.  I need to get him back, I'll 
just say I'm sorry and say that I want the engagement back.  
I never did that before and he'll be surprised and accept it.'  
When she got home, she was nervous and very scared that 
he might reject her.  

	"Kasumi, where is Ranma?"  

"Akane-chan, he is in the dojo practicing."  

"Thanks you"  
'Here goes nothing'  
She headed for the dojo and when she entered, she saw 
Ranma doing a very beautiful and graceful kata that she 
has never seen it before.  She just stood there and 
watched until he finished it.  

"Akane, what do you want?"  

He asked without even turning to see her.  

"I just wanted, I..... Ranma.... I "  

She just couldn't say it, she just couldn't get the 
courage to get the words out.  

"Listen Akane, I have something to tell you, I'm going 
to be moving out.  I'm going to go live with Ucchan 
starting tomorrow."  

"WHAT???!, YOU ARE MOVING IN WITH UKYOU?"  

She shouted it very loud, she was in disbelief and she 
was hurt and she was angry.  As soon as she said those 
words, Soun and Genma were upon Ranma.  

"HOW DARE YOU CHEAT ON YOUR FIANCEE?"  

"I AM DISSPOINTED IN YOU SON HOW DARE YOU?!!!"  

Instead of the usual fear that Ranma showed, he was calm 
and actually looked sad.  

"Listen, Akane and I are no longer engaged.  We both 
agreed to break the engagement and we are not engaged."  

"YOU ARE STILL TO MARRY A TENDO, HONOR DEMANDS IT!"  

"THAT'S RIGHT YOU ARE TO MARRY ONE OF MY DAUGHTERS!"  

"I don't think so, I didn't have any luck with one, what 
make you think I would have any luck with any of them.  
I don't think so.  I'm going to Ucchan later and don't even 
think about stopping me or else I will have to show you what 
exactly happened to Saffron."

	Akane was in shock, from what Ranma said about their 
engagement breaking being both of their idea 
'It' wasn't my idea at all! I didn't want the engagement 
broken, I said it only out of anger!'  
And also she was in shock because Ranma was actually 
threatening their fathers with their lives.  

"You would dare do that to your father?"  

Genma was stunned as well, Ranma has never shown this much 
rebellion, he was always little rebellious but he never 
threaten his life.  

"If it comes to that, I will, so stay out of my way."  

With that, he walked past the two-stunned father and Akane 
who still haven't recovered from the double shock.

	Ranma was in his room packing and Akane was growing 
desperate.  She had to tell him that she didn't mean it 
and that also how she felt about him.  Other wise, she was 
going to lose the man that she loved to another woman, 
woman whom she had grown to become friends with.  She slowly 
walk to Ranma's room and knocked very softly.  After a 
silent minute passed, she was about to knock again, when 
Ranma told her to come in.  

"What do you want Akane?  Going to give me the mallet as a 
going away present?"  

Akane wanted to hit him, run, cry.  She chose to cry.  
Ranma came to her and gently took her by the shoulder and 
sat her on the futon.  

"R Ranma, I.... I.dddon't want you do go."  

"Akane..."  

"No, I don't want you to go, stay here, stay here with 
your father and...."  

Akane wanted to tell him to stay with her, but she just 
couldn't get the words out, she wanted to tell him that 
she loved him and that she wanted the engagement, that she 
wanted to marry him and she wanted to marry him at the 
failed wedding.  

"Akane, listen I have something else to tell you, you 
probably won't believe me, but that's ok, you never believed 
me in the first place anyway.."  

"Ranma, that's not.."  

Akane was about to protest that she believed him that she 
trusted him, that it wasn't him that she didn't believe or 
trust, it was the other girls.  

"No, Akane, listen.  This is something I have to tell you, 
I hid it for far too long."  

When he said that, there was hope in her eyes, that he 
maybe telling her that he loved her.  She waited for him to finish.  

"Well, when I tell you this I won't have any more honor 
left.  When I decided to move in with Ucchan and not marry 
the Tendo, my honor already was tarnished, after I tell you 
this, I won't have anymore honor left and you shouldn't 
ever be seen with me."  

'What is he talking about?  Why would his honor be gone?  
Why is he telling me something that would cause me never 
to see him again?'  

"Well, Akane, after hearing what I have to say you'll might 
even hate me for it.."  

"Ranma I can n..."  

"Listen to me, you know how I always fight with Ryoga, right?  
You also know how Ryoga and me never get's along."  

"So, what are you getting at Ranma?"  

"Well, here it is.  When I was in junior high, there was 
this boy I took bread from I guess, that's how he saw it.  
He challenged me but he never showed up.  I waited for 
three days and he didn't show up.  I guess he showed up on the 
forth day and he followed me thinking I ran from the challenge.  
He followed me to China."  

'Sounds familiar.  I think I heard this story before.  
Where is he going with this?'  

"He even followed us to the cursed springs.  When I was 
running around chasing my pop as a panda, we knocked 
this friend into one of the pools.  He was turned into a 
little black piglet.  Little black piglet with a black 
and yellow bandanna."  

'What is he trying to tell me?'  

"When that friend caught up with me here, he accidentally 
cut off the hair of this girl.  Anyway, the same girl found 
him in the cursed form and made him her pet.  She called 
him P-Chan."  

'Oh my god, he can't be serious.  Is he telling me that my 
pet P-Chan is a one of the victim of the cursed springs?'  

"Well, I try to get him to admit it to the girl that he is 
not really a pig, but he won't and she would hit me for 
trying to protect her.  She protected his human form from 
me also telling me stop picking on Ryoga."  

'What did he just say?'  

"Ranma did you just say Ryoga?  Are you telling me that 
Ryoga is P-chan?"  

"That's what I have been trying to tell you for the last 
year."  

"Ryoga is P-chan........."  

"Well, that's what I had to tell you.  I said what I 
had to say, so I'll be leaving now."  

Ranma got up and left Akane shocked and stunned on the 
futon.  After some times has passed, she wanted to kick 
herself. She finally put all the little pieces together.  
It all made sense, little hints here and there and all 
their fights.  She would have to have a little talk with 
certain little black piglet and or certain lost boy with 
fangs.  She looked up, and realized that Ranma was no 
longer in the room with her and she knew that he left the 
house and now was at Ukyou's.  She just laid there and 
started to cry.

	2 days have passed and Akane was getting deeper into 
her depression.  She would see Ranma in school but he would 
avoid her like the plague and she so wanted to talk to him, 
to tell him to come back to her.  He didn't give her a chance.  
She now got in the habit of sleeping in Ranma's old room in 
his futon.  She kicked the Genma panda out of the room, Genma 
had to sleep in the sofa.  P-chan had finally made it to Tendo 
dojo and was inside Akane's room.  He looked around confused, 
where was Akane?  

'Oh my love Akane, I'm finally back.'  
He made some pig noise which attracted the attention of 
certain girl who needed to have a 'talk' with that certain 
pig.  Akane walked into her room and found 'P-Chan looking 
around.  

"Hello Ryoga, nice to see you again."  

First Ryoga didn't even realize what Akane had said.  He 
was too happy seeing his Akane.  But when he looked into 
her eyes, her cold gazes, he realized that something was 
wrong and finally her words registered.  
'Did she just called me Ryoga?  How did she find out?'  
As he was wondering how she found out, Akane moved in on 
the lost pig to do her just vengeance.  Although that might 
sound too much like Kuno, she was angry and hurt and depressed 
from Ranma leaving her that she really didn't know what she 
was doing.  She wasn't thinking straight.  All she saw was 
a perverted little black pig who she thought was her pet, 
who she thought was her friend in her room ready to take 
advantage of her again.  She saw one of the obstacles, one 
of the greatest obstacles that got in her way of being happy 
with Ranma.  That night a squeal of pig in pain could be 
heard from China.  Before Ryoga passed out, his conscious 
thoughts were 
'Ranma, this is all your fault!'

	About a week has passed.  Akane woke up from a 
particularly good dream she was having, of living happily 
with Ranma.  Having married and with kids living and 
running the dojo.  Since Ranma left she was either 
having a nightmare about Ranma rejecting her or having 
a beautiful dream about being happy with Ranma.  She 
woke up from the beautiful dream and couldn't help but 
cry as she was back in the land of reality, thinking of 
what could have been and what really happened.  After she 
had cried for a while, she was thirsty so she decided to 
get something to drink.  When she was walking past Kasumi's 
door, she heard her two sisters talking.  

"Nabiki, do you think I should tell her what Ranma's real 
reason for doing what he did?"  

"Well, I don't know sis.  I just found out myself and I 
can't believe you knew about it.  It cost me a lot of money 
to find out about it you know.  I don't know if we should 
tell her though, she is already depressed enough as it is."  

"Yes, it's true.."  

Akane couldn't take it anymore, she had to know what her 
sisters where talking about, they were talking about Ranma 
leaving her and there was a reasons behind it that she didn't 
know about that she had to find out.  She burst through the 
door and stared at her two sisters with fire in her eye.  

"Tell me why Ranma left me, I have the right to know.  I'm 
his fiancŽe!"  

Akane demanded the answers from her sisters, she wanted to 
know why Ranma left her, he never really gave her a reason, 
she wanted to know more than anything.  She was also angry 
with Kasumi, she knew why Ranma left her and didn't even 
tell her.  

"Well... I don't know if I should tell you, Ranma asked me 
not to tell you..."  

Kasumi started to say, but was cut off by Nabiki, 

"Wait a minute, since when are you Ranma's fiancŽe again?  
You two broke up about a month ago remember little sis?"  

This did not sit well with Akane.  She was getting ever 
angrier.  Her sisters, her sisters were holding out on her.  
She expected this from Nabiki, she never gives information 
without some kind of payments, but from Kasumi, that was hard 
to believe and accept.  

"As far as I'm concerned, I'm still engaged to him.  I never 
meant what I said.  I said those lot of times and never meant 
it.  Why should this time be any different?"  

"Well, little sis, it's different this time for the fact that 
Ranma actually agree to break the engagement with you.  
You see, I mean you should be happy about it.  You were 
never happy with the engagement to start with."  

Akane started to glow in only way that Akane could glow 

"What are you talking about!!!"  

"Well, let see here, who is the one that hit him over the 
head with our family table the first day?  Who is the one 
that called him a freak to start with?  Who is the one that 
called him a pervert when you are the one that walked in 
on him in the bath?  And beside you said it yourself, 
remember the second day?  'If you like it why don't you 
get engaged to him Nabiki?  I'm engaged to my worst 
nightmare'  You do remember don't you?"  

Those words were like a knife that cut straight through 
to her heart.  She was remembering those words being 
spoken by her, and she winced remembering those thoughtless 
words that was spoken by her almost a whole year ago.  

"I... I was angry... I didn't... I..." 

She couldn't handle it, already weekend emotional state 
she was in, she just broke down.  

"Just tell me why Ranma left me, please.  I want to know.  
I have to know.  Please, I... I l love him."  

With that said, she was actually relived that she said 
those words, she knew she loved him, just couldn't say 
them out loud. Kasumi looking at her little sister 
emotionally week and beaten, decided to tell her the reason.  

"Well, Akane, there are only few people who knows why Ranma 
left you, the real reason.  I know, Auntie Saotome knows 
and Ukyou knows."  

"Ukyou knows the reason?  How come she knows that and I 
don't!??"  

"Well, Ranma is after all staying at her place and needed 
to explain why he needed to stay at her place and why he 
needed to visit the hospital everyday after school."  

"Hospital?  What are you talking about?"  

Kasumi didn't want to tell her sister this, she really 
didn't, Ranma made her promise not to tell her, but she 
had to or she might lose her sister.  

"Well, Akane, Ranma maybe dying.  He is going through 
tests and treatments to see if they can keep him from dying."  

Akane's world was crumbling around her.  Those that were 
still standing when Ranma left her just decided to give 
out as soon as she heard that Ranma maybe dying.  

"He didn't want you to be hurt if he actually ended up dying.  
He was worried that if, in some off chance that you actually 
loved him, it would hurt you too much to lose him.  Just 
like m.m mom.  He was worried about you being hurt like when 
you lost mom.  So he decided to break up with you and try to 
make you hate him so that if he dies, pain won't be as much 
as it would have been."  

	Kasumi finished with a tear in her eyes.  Nabiki was 
surprised to hear this, she knew that Ranma was going 
through tests and treatments and that's why he left Akane, 
but she didn't know that was the reason, that he didn't 
wanted to hurt Akane if he died.  Not for the first time 
since she met Ranma, Nabiki decided that there was more to 
Ranma Saotome than just what he appears to be.  But this 
time, she realized just how caring he really is, although 
he comes off as insensitive jerk.  She regretted ruining 
their wedding attempt.  She didn't think Ranma was good 
enough for her sister so she deliberately invited all the 
troublemakers so that the wedding can be broken off.  Never 
had she regretted what she have done this much.  

	She couldn't tell when she started crying, but 
she was crying now.  Strangely one person in the room 
not crying was Akane.  She just absorbed all the 
information Kasumi gave her, her world crumbled, but 
something, some kind of hard determination was rebuilding 
her world now, very differently from what was before.  
She now had purpose.  Before she was just a girl who was 
in love with a boy that didn't love her back and was always 
jealous about all the other girls.  Now she had purpose, 
she had to take care of Ranma.  She had to look out for 
Ranma, be there for him like how he was always there for her.  
Time after time, he was there for her and supported her 
and saved from many different kidnappers, dangers, and 
deaths.  He saved her from death many times.  Now it was 
her turn to save him, her finance.  Very calmly Akane got 
up off of her knees, and in a voice that would have been 
more likely belong to her mother, she asked 

"Where does Ranma go to get treated?  What hospital?"  

"Akane listen, I don't think it will be a good idea if..."  

"No, I have to be there for him like he was always there 
for me.  For a year, I haven't done anything for him, 
just beat him and blame him for all that was wrong with 
the world.  Not anymore, it's time I woke up from my childish 
ways and finally took care of the man I love, my fiancŽe."  

Kasumi was about to say something when Nabiki cut in.  

"Well, if that's how you feel about it, Ranma goes to 
Tokyo General every day after school and he is there about 
4 to 9.  That's why he leaves so quickly after school."  

"Thank you Nabiki.  I'm going to be there for him.  I'll 
help him through this, you'll see.  He'll be fine."  

With that she left the room.  

"Let's hope so little sis, let's hope so.  For both his 
and for your sake."

	Now Akane was waiting for the lunch time to come 
around so she can skip the rest of the school day and go 
to the Tokyo General to wait for Ranma so that she can be 
there for him.  When the lunchtime came around, she didn't 
hesitate to leave the school ground and she went to the 
Tokyo General.  

	Although unknown to Akane, Ranma has been watching 
her from distance.  He has been watching her ever since he 
left her.  He wanted make sure that she wasn't hurting or at 
least to see her.  His resolve to make her hate him almost 
broke down couple of times when he would catch her looking 
at him with unshed tears in her eyes.  He would some times 
go to the Tendo's at late at night to talk to Kasumi about 
how Akane is doing and so on.  He would drop by to see how 
she is sleeping.  

First night he visited was surprise for him, when he dropped 
by her window, she wasn't there, Kasumi hasn't told him yet 
that she started sleeping in his old room the day he left her.  
He thought she was in the dojo breaking bricks to settle her 
anger like she does sometimes.  He dropped by the dojo, no 
sign of her.  He just couldn't find her until he passed by 
his old room and heard her soft cries.  She was of course 
having one of those nightmares and was crying in her sleep.  
She was actually asking him not to leave her, not to leave 
her alone, that she would do anything.  Promises of never 
ever hitting him again not getting jealous, she even offered 
to be his concubine just so she can be with him.  Listening 
to her pleas in her sleep had hurt him.  He didn't know it 
would hurt her this bad, but it had to be done.  Soon he 
might leave her for good.  From that night, he would visit 
often and he would watch over her from far, seeing how she 
did.  Today wasn't any different.  When he saw her leaving, 
he decided that she just didn't feel too good and decided to 
go home to have some rest.  He wanted to follow her, but he 
had to go to the hospital.  They were running tests on him 
and treatments.  They weren't sure if he would die yet because 
he has some rare form of brain damage.  Doctors told him it 
seems to have been from too much shock or blow to the head 
for extended period of time.  Another reason why he didn't 
tell anybody what kind of diseases that he was dying from.  
If he said something like 
'Oh, someone has been pounding on my head for a long time 
and that caused it.'  Akane would surely blame herself if 
he died.  He couldn't allow that.  She already lost someone 
she loved, no fault of her own, but couldn't help feel that 
somehow she was responsible.  He knows how that it is so.  
All children who loses their parents at young age some how 
feel responsible for their deaths.  Now if he told them that 
he might be dying because of some kind of brain damage that 
he has, it probably would hurt Akane too much.  It really 
wasn't Akane's fault.  Ranma had been leading the life of 
a dangerous martial artists and every turn he made and 
every corner he turned, there was always somebody there to 
challenge him and fight him.  He probably brought this on 
himself, well his pop helped too.  A lot.  He took a last 
glimpse to the general direction that Akane left and went 
to his classroom.

'Well, when Ranma shows up today, I'll tell him 
everything, how I know he is hurt and that I love him 
and that I still think he is my fiancŽe.'  
Akane was waiting for him at the front of the hospital.  
It was now 4 and she was beginning to get nervous.  
'What would he say when he sees me here, how would he 
react.  How does he really feel about me.  I know he 
cares about me, but does he love me?'  
All those thoughts in her head, she almost didn't see 
Ranma running down the street.  When she saw him, she 
was more nervous than she ever was in her life 'Well, 
here goes.'  

"Ranma, stop!"

"Ranma, stop!"  

'Huh?  Who?  That sounded awfully lot like Akane, but 
it can't be.'  
After hearing someone telling him to stop, he actually 
did.  He didn't know it was another challenger or what, 
so he looked around.  Sure enough he saw a girl walking 
towards him from the Hospital main gate that look awfully 
lot like Akane.  
'That's not Akane, she could not possibly know why I'm here.  
She shouldn't know that I come here in the first place. 
 Who could have told her.'  
As he was wondering, Akane was upon him.  She looked into 
his eyes, or at least tried.  Soon as she was in front of 
him, he turned his head to the side.  He didn't wanted her 
to see him like this, and he didn't wanted to be mean to 
her, but he had to and he didn't think he could do it 
while looking at her.  

"Look Akane I don't know what you want or how you know 
I was coming here, but I have nothing to say to you, so 
go away."  

Ranma hated being like this to Akane but he had to, for 
her.  Akane felt pain hearing those words from him, but 
she knew why he was saying them to her, so she held on.  

"Ranma, I know."  

'What is she talking about?  She can't possibly know, 
she can't.'  

"What are you talking about, what do you know?"  

Ranma was hoping that she didn't know, but look in her 
eyes, when he turned his head to her when she said she 
knew, he already knew she knew the truth, to a certain 
extent.  

"Ranma, I know why you left me.  I can also understand 
why you did it.  But Ranma, I'm your fiancŽe, you didn't 
have to shut me out."  

"I.."  

"No, listen to me Ranma.  As far as I'm concerned, I'm 
still your fiancŽe.  I never meant those words and you 
know it.  I'm your fiancŽe and you're my fiancŽe.  How 
could you even think about doing this?  Don't you think 
losing you without knowing the truth would have hurt 
more than knowing about it?"  

"Akane, you are going to be hurt, I may be dying and I 
can't let it hurt you."  

Ranma saw no point in denying anything so he decided to 
make her see why she had to leave him now.  

"Akane, go home.."  

"No, I will not leave you."  

"Akane you have to."  

"No, I will not leave you and you can't make me.  How 
many times have to saved me from one thing or the other?  
How many time have you been by my side when I was in 
trouble and in need of help?  Now, it's my turn.  My turn 
to be there for you, my turn to take care of you and my 
turn to support you.  Don't you dare take this away from me."  

Akane's eyes were filled with tears and so was Ranma's.  
He couldn't stop the tears from flowing down his cheeks as 
he looked at the girl that he loved.  

"Akane... I."  

"Ranma, I love you."  

Akane said softly, looking into Ranma's blue eyes tear 
flowing down her cheeks.  

"Ranma I love you and after you get better, I want to 
marry you."  

Ranma could not believe it, after all this time, she told 
him she loved him.  It took many kidnappings, dangerous 
fights, couple of near deaths on Akane's part and now his 
possible death, but she finally told him that she loved him.  
Ranma saw his chance to drive the girl away now, all he had 
to do was tell her that he doesn't love her.  He looked into 
her eyes and knew that he couldn't do that.  

"Akane, I... I... I love you too.  I would have married you 
but it seems that I'll probably not going to get the chance."  

"Ranma, don't talk like that! I'm here now, you'll see, 
you'll get better, I promise."  

It was wishful thinking and Ranma hearing those words 
actually felt better.  He felt better probably because it 
was coming from Akane.  Together they walked into the 
hospital.

"He is like this because of WHAT!?!?!?"  

A loud female shout was heard throughout the hospital.  
Inside of a neurology special section, Akane was in shock 
from hearing the doctor explain Ranma's interestingly rare 
condition.  After explaining what Ranma's condition was and 
how he became like that to the girl who was claiming to be 
his fiancŽe, the doctor was on the receiving end of a sonic 
boom that have been generated by the girl that was now 
standing above him.  Sweat form on doctor's head.  There 
was another sweat that formed on another person's head.  
It was Ranma.  

'I should have told the doctor not to tell Akane about my 
condition.  She must have been yelling really loudly if I 
can here it from in here.  They said it was a soundproof 
in here.'  

Indeed Ranma was in one of the scanning machines and indeed 
it was a soundproof.  But Akane's sonic boom of a shout was 
heard even in there.  It was heard in a small college dorm 
room in America.  

"So, you are t telling me that Ranma is in this condition 
because of the multiple trauma to the head?"  

Unable to respond because of the shock earlier by the girl, 
doctor just nodded.  Akane was in shock, despair, depressed, 
angry with herself for, angry with herself for being the 
cause of the pain and perhaps the death of the man she loves.  
'How can this be happening.  I have basically killed him.  
All those times I yelled, Ranma no baka.  Die Ranma.  
I wish I never met you Ranma.  It's going to be coming 
true, because of my stupid anger.'  
Akane couldn't believe it, her world, which was rebuilt on 
the ground that she must be with Ranma was starting to crack.  

"How?  How can I stay with him, when I'm the cause of this?"  

"NO!"  

Akane didn't realize she said that one out loud until she 
heard that loud no from behind her.  She turned around to 
find Ranma looking at her with what seem to be anger in his 
eyes.  
'I knew it, he is angry with me'  
Ranma knowing what she is thinking spoke in very firm voice.  

"Akane, this is not your fault, no, don't try to disagree 
with me.  Believe me when I say this, this is not your fault.  
I have been leading a life of dangerous martial artist.  
There was constant challenges and constant fighting.  It 
was my own faults and my own life styles that caused this.  
Although Pop played a large part in it, but most of them 
were my faults."  

"Ranma, but I malleted you on the head every chance I got.  
I hit you on the head so many times I even.."  

"I said no.  Akane, don't you think if I wanted to, I couldn't 
have stopped you from malletting me?  I could have.  I let you 
hit me.  I let you punt me or throw me into the koi pond.  
Akane, don't blame any of this on yourself.  Ok?  Just be 
here with me."  

"Ranma, I promise that I will never leave you."

Some Time Later
We see Akane standing in front of a grave.  With tear 
flowing from her eyes.  She is speaking 

"Happy birthday again.  I have to go now, my family is 
waiting for me.  I wish you were here with us now.  
Everybody is happy.  Nabiki decided that college was boring 
and went to business on her own.  At first she didn't 
seem to do too well but, you know Nabiki, once she sets 
her mind of things she can do anything.  Now she owns the 
biggest, several in fact biggest hospitals and research 
centers all over the world.  

Kasumi, Kasumi is Kasumi.  She still cooks and all, but 
occasionally.  Dr. Tofu came back and actually ask her 
to marry him without fainting.  Although he did faint 
after she said yes.  It was a beautiful wedding and 
everything was perfect.  Dr. Tofu is a chief of staff 
at one of Nabiki's hospital and watches over some researches.  

Ukyou actually married this guy named Yosho.  She met 
him when she went to some kind of a old shrine and she 
fell in love with him.  I've met him couple of times, 
he seems like a nice guy.  Interesting hairstyle though.  
Long hair tied in two strand in frond and another long 
strand on his back.  Well, he is kind and Ukyou is happy.  

Mousse finally got over his fear of hurting Shampoo and 
challenged her and won, but not after she did some damage.  
They are getting married as soon as Mousse get's out of 
the hospital.  It's hard to believe but Shampoo actually 
seems to be happy.  I guess she secretly loved him back.  

Cologne, well, Cologne is on a mission.  She is hunting 
for master Happy.  Happy insulted the Amazon tribe, not 
just one of them, but the whole entire tribe and now her 
and her sisters are on out hunting for him.  It's good 
because it's been very peaceful here without him.  

Ryoga, I still haven't exactly forgiven him for what he 
has done, but we became friends.  Ryoga visits sometimes, 
with Akiri now.  Of course she guides them, or more likely 
her sumo pigs guides them because those two are too busy 
staring at each other or doing something else that keeps 
them busy.  

Well, I have to go now, for real, I have to go help make 
dinner.  My husband and his family does consume a lot of 
food.  My mother in law helps me and I have learned how 
to cook because of her and Kasumi.  I have do go."  

Akane is about to say her good bye, when we see a man 
walking up to her and hugs her from behind.  

"Akane, it's time to go."  

"I know.  Well, I guess It's time to go.  I'll talk to 
you again mom."  

We see Akane and the man walking away from the cemetery, 

"Akane you are still slow as ever, you know that?  That 
took you really long time."  

"Ranma!"
			End.

Authors note.  I like to say that I am one of those 
Akane and Ranma get together fan.  Well, this is my 
first, ever fanfic attempt and I happen to read a lot 
of fanfics and know that this is nowhere as good as 
any of them out there.  Well, no matter, I enjoyed it 
when I was writing it.  So please tell me what you 
think over the email.  You can say whatever you want 
about it and I will accept.  Oh, by the way, the Yosho 
mentioned in the story, is the one you are thinking 
about.  Tenchi's grandfather in the OAV version.  I 
don't know, I needed someone to get Ukyou to hookup 
with and I couldn't think of anybody.  I mean, Ukyou 
and Ryoga has been done, and I just needed someone new 
and someone no one has thought of yet.  So I put Yosho.

	I though about this a lot.  What if Ranma came down 
with something that might kill him?  What is his constant 
beating over the had was the reason?  So I started this fic 
and I don't know, I just don't like long series so I decided 
to finish as a oneshot fic.
