Things are going well for control-spire-destroying until they get to a heavily guarded area filled with Gardromon. They go to retreat back to the Real World to regroup, but Kari and Gatomon get trapped behind in the Digital World. TK and Davis go to an area close to Kari to go save her. Kari and Neferti are dodging blasts from Gardromon left and right and the Digimon Emporer isn't making it any better for them. Patamon digivolves to Angemon to help TK and Davis get inside the city. Veemon & Patamon armordigivolve to defeat the Gardromon. Soon, Kari and Nefertimon show up to help as soon as they finish off thee rest of the Gardromon but soon Andromon comes and is being controlled by a Dark Ring. When Tai shows up, Andromon starts to remember and is no longer affected by the ring. Andromon then destroys the control spire for them. When they get back home, Izzy discovers three new modes for the digivices and gives them the nickname, "D3", and these "D3's" are giving the Digimon Emporer a harder time than he'd expected.
