The gender bending section has needed a good reworking for awhile now. It's currently under construction(insert ugly construction banner and animated gif of man digging here)but it's still better than it was before.
Ahh, SuperS...the cute, cuddly season with bestiality and three cross dressing, dream raping drunks.
Cross Dressing
Clothes make the man. In the case of Sailor Moon, clothes make the man--or woman--look like s/he was attached by his/her own closet.
One of my favorite parts about SuperS is how none of the characters seem to be able to go more than an episode without insulting each other's fashion sense.
Now it's my turn.
Tiger's-Eye--God, where to start?
While relaxing at home, Tiger's-Eye wears a white blouse with black shoulder pads from hell and sleeves that cover his hands, black briefs, tiger striped tights, knee high, high heeled boots, and a red headband. All he needs is a pair of leg warmers and bigger hair, and he's ready to take on the 80's. (Had he been created in the late 90's/early 00's, he would probably have had a navel piercing.)
He's also got the razor blade earrings, a beaded necklace, a bracelet with spikes on it, and a few rings. Except for the earrings, all the jewelry's gold.(mixing gold and silver? Now there's a faux pas!)
As a human, Tiger's-Eye often wears his white suit, a ring on every finger, and huge earrings. I can't even describe the infamous earrings--they look like clip-ons that even a taste challenged grandma wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole. True, SuperS takes place in the summer(before Labor Day) but I don't think anyone should wear shoes at any point...
He's also combined purple and green to be a French/English-speaking tourist and dresses like a "rebel without a haircut"(lots of leather)
Hawk's-Eye--Imagine a toga party. Now imagine that it's being held by the gay frat house.
Hawk's-Eye wears a lavender...wrap around his chest, a lavender pleated skirt, lavender tights, and dark purple pumps. He's also got the frilly brown gloves.(Someone--I don't remember who--once said that it looks like he's got breasts under there. I've looked, but I don't quite see it...he's still got bigger breasts than Fish-Eye though...)
Moving on to jewelry, Hawk's-Eye's the one with double piercings(two silver hoops in each ear) He wears a brown neckband and is the only member of the Trio to decorate his third eye--with two silver diamonds.
As a human, Hawk's-Eye tends to dress like jailbait. He's almost always sleeveless and wearing platform shoes(I think the one exception is when he goes after Serena's mom) There's no one defining outfit(like with Tiger's-Eye)but it's all...teenage camp.
Fish-Eye--I think queer Michelin man says it best.
Fish-Eye typically wears a puffy pale blue body suit with a low neckline and a hot pink fish skeleton on the stomach. His shoes are debatable--they're either pink pumps over blue tights or blue and pink boots.
As for jewelry, Fish-Eye keeps it to a minimum--he just wears orange earrings with green dangly bits.
When out stalking targets, Fish-Eye tends to wear a dress. Yes, Fish-Eye goes for full out drag when it comes to stalking targets(he wears pants when going after the fashion designer, but that's probably because the designer was originally queer as folk...)
Amazon Trio as a whole--All three of them crossdress on a daily basis(Fish-Eye actually wears the least amount of jewelry around the bar...)
In the liner notes of the Materials collection(translation found here) Naoko Takeuchi refers to them as the "transvestite trio".
Dreams--Yeah, so I'm snagging this from the same liner notes seen above. So, it's manga and not anime, but still...it's all character design and at least half the stuff I've read here never made it into the manga.(for example, the circus jobs the Trio are given don't really show up until the anime)
That's right, madame. And Tiger's-Eye just wants to be a rock star. Well, probably a Velvet Goldmine style rock star, but it's still slightly butcher than bar madame and ball balancing girl.
