Angelfire is currently sucking my ass. Now that I actually attempt to access my pages and contemplate updating, the system's changed and I have to remember the idiotic member name thing I decided to ignore because I thought I'd always be able to just type in part of my site address and password. I had to half reapply just to get back into this one, and I'm currently trying to remember how I managed to pull that off to get into my other site...

But anyway, I was thinking random thoughts in my car. Because I'm spending the summer in LA and I really have nothing better to do in my car during the two hours I spend in traffic.

What is it about the green girls? You know what I'm talking about--three examples of chicks represented by the color green who like to kick ass promptly came to mind: Sailor Jupiter, Jun-Jun, and Buttercup(yeah, I know. Wrong series.)

The Jupiter/Jun-Jun similarities aren't exactly surprising. Mythologically, Juno was Jupiter's sister/wife(those crazy gods!). Manga-wise, Sailor Juno is one of Mini-Moon's future guardian scouts...and as the tough one, she's basically a future Sailor Jupiter.

The odd thing is that the green thing seems to expand to Powerpuff Girls...for the unfamiliar, Buttercup's favorite colors are black and blue. She's also the one who, when the people of Townsville were brainwashed into attacking the girls, reasoned that they could beat the crap out of their friends and loved ones because their real friends and loved ones would never want to hurt them.

I'm not going to go into the symbolism of the color green. There's at least twenty-seven other Sailor Moon sites explaining what the Scouts' respective colors mean. They did their homework, so I'm not going to bother.(Besides, green means a lot of different things: jealousy, fertility, fortune, nature...)

As for girls in green...I don't know if it's wearing the color green. That doesn't seem to mean much. Emerald and Petz--whom I really didn't pay attention to--both wear green. But from what I remember of Emerald, she may have been catty and nasty, but she didn't seem like the type who'd punch you. Hit you with that stupid fan and try to kill you with her laugh, sure...

So, then what's the connection? Eye color. Emerald has brown eyes. Petz has...I have no idea. I'm sure there's a site with information on that though. Jupiter, Jun-Jun, and Buttercup all have green eyes.(I think Zoicite does too, but he's not really a girl...)

But why green? We can probably all agree that blue eyes tend to imply innocence or make men really hot(I like blue eyes, all right?) and, in Sailor Moon, at least, red eyes mean recessive genes. Green eyes...first thing that comes to mind is the whole jealousy thing. Or that green eyes just rock the house.(god bless you, color contacts...)

Back to Jupiter, I've noticed some people complain about the whole "I'm tough, but I cook" dichotomy. While I'm sometimes squicked out by the "I wish I could find a husband, give up fighting, and bake cookies until I die" domestic daydream crap, I'm glad Lita cooks. I prefer her when she's elbowing people in the face, but at least she's a happy balance between tomboy and Donna Reed.
