"Protect a Mother's Dream! A New Attack for Double Moon!" or "The One in Which We Learn that Hawk-Eye Needs A Lot of Therapy"

Rini's dreaming about Pegasus again. He tells her that there's no time left and heads off, telling her to call his name when she's in trouble.

Later Serena comes home and finds that, well, Sammy got pie and Rini got pie, but there's no pie for poor Serena. Sammy and Rini says it's because they got 100's on their quizzes, so they get to have delicious lemon pie. Ikuko--unfortunately for Serena--has found her daughter's stash of failed quizzes and decides it's a good time to let Serena know that, yes, she found that 28.

Ikuko says that she was bad at math too, but this is really really pathetic.

Still, even people who are flunking out like pie and Serena throws a fit. Ikuko is confused since there was enough pie for everyone...after which Sammy and Rini confess that they ate 100% of the pie to match their scores. Ikuko tells her to relax and reminds her that she's the oldest.

In English, Serena says that her mother loves Rini more than her. In Japanese, she says that she read in a book somewhere that if you're too nice to a kid, your relationship with your husband cools down. Either way, Ikuko gets pissed. Serena runs out into the cold and rain. She does come back for her umbrella.

Serena consults the girls..who aren't too surprised that she ran away from home over pie. Serena repeats her fear that her mother loves Rini more than her. Lita assures her that they're both loved and Amy points out that Rini is several hundred years away from her real parents and that Serena is supposed to be a role model(cry for the future)

In the bar, Fish-Eye asks Tiger's-Eye if he's losing his touch. Tiger's-Eye says it's all the sailor scouts' fault. Hawk's-Eye says it's best to fool women with kind words and lets his fingers do the walking over to a picture of Ikuko.

Fish-Eye and Tiger's-Eye get up close and personal to see this one. Tiger's-Eye comments on Hawk's-Eye's Oedipus complex(he uses the term "mommy-type") and is told to get off. Fish and Tiger step back and we learn about the virtues of older women("Older women are more accepting and therefore better to fool around with! Sailor Hawk's-Eye says!")

Wondering where Serena is, Rini stumbles across Ikuko and her photo collection. There's it's mostly pictures of young Serena, naturally causing Rini to wonder, "But who will remember me?"

Ikuko then shows Rini what she says is her favorite picture--a group shot of Ikuko, Kenji, Sammy, Serena, and Rini.

Rini says she feels bad about Serena, but Ikuko assures her that Meatball brain will be back when she gets hungry. So, it's time to get some more lemons for pie!

Serena is still wandering the streets, thinking about what Amy says. She concludes that Rini's probably used to being the only princess and decides to go home(different from the original, but it sounds a lot like my family...)

Rini and Ikuko are walking back from the store when Hawk's-Eye, who's hiding in the bushes, snaps his fingers, causing their shopping bags to rip open. As the two women start picking up lemons, Hawk's-Eye naturally appears to help them...well, before taking Ikuko's hand and wailing, "Mommy!"

Ikuko and Rini are naturally taken aback. Most people would be.(Rini, however, finally coming into contact with someone who has her coloring looks up at Hawk-Eye with tears in her eyes and wails, "Daddy!" The two then go off together to wear pleated mini-skirts and leer at older wo/men.)

Back to things that actually happened in the episode, Ikuko tells Hawk-Eye that she's sorry, but, well, she's not his mother. Still sniffling, Hawk-Eye then explains that his mother left him years ago and Ikuko just looks so much like her that he hoped against hope...but at least he has a picture. Or he will once he sticks his hand in his pocket and creates one with magic.

The resemblance between Hawk-Eye's fake mother and Ikuko is amazing. And by an astonishing coincidence, his mom's name is Ikuko too!

Seeing that telling a woman she looks like your mom doesn't get you the phone numbers very fast, Hawk-Eye moves onto plan B--collapsing and mumbling about how long its been since you've eaten or how you want some harihari pickles. Rini runs to the store where she meets Serena.

Okay, here's the beauty/Tiger and Fish need to take the poor bastard to therapy part. Now that they're alone together, Hawk-Eye once again takes Ikuko's hand and tells her that she's beautiful and he's waited his whole life for a woman like her. Now, I know the Amazon Trio will say anything to get laid, but if you think that it's a natural progression to call a woman "Mommy" then hit on her, you need therapy.

Serena and Rini are quite puzzled to hear this(Usagi suspects that her mother is having an affair...)

A few more compliments and Hawk's-Eye changes. One, two, three, glittery transformation sequence(fortunately, Rini uses the short version)and a speech about protecting housewives.

Hawk's-Eye says they must be the Sailor Scouts and calls for his cannonball wench Dokanko. Who sounds amazingly like Molly. Moon and Mini-Moon are saved by a Love-Me Chain. Dokanko is told to take care of the scouts.

Sparkling Wide Pressure does nothing and Dokanko tells the scouts to quit moving.

Hawk's-Eye is just about to look in Ikuko's dream mirror when he's hit with the full wrath of Pink Sugar Heart Attack and told by the secret identity challenged Mini-Moon that Ikuko is her second mother. He's about to swat Mini-Moon when Sailor Moon pushes him away.(Hawk's-Eye may look ripped, but he still can't fight for crap) Sailor Moon throws a Rainbow Moon Heart Attack(a what?)at him. Hawk's-Eye catches it and only gets knocked back afew feet. He then blows fire at the scouts and checks Ikuko's dream.

No Pegasus, so it's time to finish off everything. Mini-Moon, of course, begs Pegasus to help her. This time he gives Moon and Mini-Moon new brooches and new weapons.(yeah, Pegasus? A bell isn't a weapon...) He tells Mini-Moon that they need to say "Moon Cosmic Dream Action"(or "Moon Crisis Make-up")

Either way, it's time for a kick-ass new transformation. And even though Pegasus is already there, Mini-Moon still has to get down on her knees and beg for his help.

Moon gorgeous meditation, complete with soon to be stock footage of Pegasus powering up the latest moon wand, and so long Dokanko/Evil Molly.

Hawk's-Eye leaves and Pegasus tells the girls to ask for him when they need his power.

With evil out of the way, it's time for delicious pie. The pie is almost ruined by Amy discussing math...but it's still delicious.

Serena asks Rini which mother she loves more. Rini says she loves them both and asks for Dad and Sammy's share of the pie. She'll just tell them that Serena ate it.
