Anime Version: On the night of Aya-chan's 16th birthday, she asked her big brother, Ran, to buy her this pair of earrings. Being a real softy at that time, Ran gave in and bought them for her. When they returned home, they saw the horrifying sight of their family... dead. Ran smelled gas and saw a time bomb ready to explode. He instructed Aya to get out of the house immediately. After the bomb went off, Ran was trapped under some of the rubble. At that moment, Takatori Reiji ordered his driver to hit the innocent Aya-chan. Ran was terrified when his little sister was hit. The blow left poor Aya-chan in a coma. At the hospital, Ran put one of the earrings he had bought her in her hand, and the other on his left ear. After the incident, Aya cast away his emotions, rarely interacted sincerely, and only sought revenge against Takatori.
Manga Version: Ran was working at the restaurant when Aya-chan walked in. He asked for his friend to take over his shift while he tended to his little sister. While walking outside, there was a loud explosion and a large piece of the building fell on top of Aya. Ran wasn't hurt, but when he turned around to find out what happened to his sister, he panicked frantically at the sight of Aya-chan unconscious. Then Schuldich appeared, blah, blah, blah... At the hospital, Ran found his birthday present from Aya-chan. It was a pair of earrings. The next night(?), Ran went to the Takatori building with his sword and trenchcoat, only to find some other guy there (who happens to be Ken). They get an unusual introduction as Ran attacked Ken. Omi came into the picture and threw his darts trying not to hit Ran, but scare him off. That didn't work, so Yoji tied him up with his wires (an amazing talent!). Burman appeared and put a gun to Ran's head. He found out that the "guys" weren't working with Takatori. Ran had two choices: either die, or join Weiß. He was reluctant at first, but Burman was persistant and gave him a card, telling him to go to that flower shop. The next morning, he went there and got a proper (kinda) introduction with Omi, whom he recognized as the kid who threw the darts at him. Burman entered the shop and Ran didn't recognize her with her hair down. Blah, blah, blah... Ken appeared and Burman told him that the newest member of Weiß was Ran (not saying that his name was Ran, but...). Ken couldn't believe it. They both got into a fight and Ken punched Ran in the face. Ran reached for his sword, which was wrapped in cloth, but Burman had her foot on it. Unable to get the sword out, he punched Ken in the stomach. Blah, blah, blah... Ran finds himself in Yoji's room, hurting all over. There he meets Yoji who tells him that he's sleeping in his bed and to get out because he wants to get some sleep. There Ran introduces himself as "Aya." |
