Another Great Black American Contribution-MINE

My future will be a future of someone who has or will be making major contributions to

the African American community. I plan on being a Percussion Instructor. I want to teach the

music that I love, which is mostly marching percussion.

To prepare my self to become what I am aspiring to be, I have been in marching band

since I was attending Ann Arbor Trail Magnet Middle School. Also, I have been marching

for Mackenzie High School for 4 years. Through my years, I have grown into one of Detroit Public

Schools elite snaredrum players. I have also come into my own in mallet percussion.

In pursuit in becoming a percussion instructor, I must first obtain at least an

Bachelor's in Music Education-Percussion. Therefore, I have chosen a few colleges

that have renown music programs:Norfolk State University, Alabama State University,

Kentucky State University, Bethune-Cookman College, and the University of Arkansas at

Pinebluff. All of the afore mentioned schools are Historical Black Colleges and Universities(HBCU's).

After my undergraduate years, it is probable that I might try one of the many top music schools of America,

         for example Berkley University.

After college, as I stated before, I plan to become a Percussion Instructor.

However, which ever college that I decide to attend, I won't stay in that particular

state. Hopefully, I will begin my career in teaching music in the Detroit Area. Maybe I'll

even come back to Mackenzie and work. So, therefore, by the year 2015 I should be instructing

a highschool drumsection. Maybe after a few years teaching highschool, I'll try my hand at

         instructing a HBCU.

In conclusion, I forcast my future to be full of musical contributions to my communtiy.

By the year 2015, I should be out of college, because I would complete my undergrade years by 2008.

However, I might go for 4 more years in graduate school, to receive my doctorate in music education,

and that should be by 2012. Hopefully, by teaching someone how to play an instrument, I can help change

someone's life. Because my life has completely changed for the better when I picked up a pair of

         drumsticks.
