Story: Ichigo, a 15-year-old high school student, can see ghosts and spirits. One day, he stumbles across a spiritual entity called the Hollow, a creature that feeds off of spiritual energy. When the Hollow endangers Ichigo, his family, and the shinigami (Death God) sent to slay the Hollow, Ichigo is forced to rescue them by taking the shinigami's Death God powers. Unfortunate for Ichigo, as a Death God and a human, he must fight the Hollows plaguing the human world while keeping his life as a shinigami a secret.

ICHIGO YUROSAKI

Hot-headed, stubborn, and brash, Ichigo can scare off any human. Because of his bright orange hair, he used to get into constant street fights. Unfortunate for him, he makes a lukewarm Death God when he takes Rukia's powers, but his will of justice overwhelms his usual world of classes and random street fights. Although he seems like the child of a Yakuza lord, Ichigo is very caring, especially when injustice occurs. His sense of justice leaves him to make rash decisions, but once his mind has been made up, he follows his will to the end while maintaining a strength no one can touch.

RUKIA KUCHIKI
Age: Unknown
Soul: Shinigami
Powers: Shinigami.
Weapons: Soul Slayer.
Comedic Device: She always draws child-like drawings to explain everything.
Although Rukia is almost as short-tempered and stubborn as Ichigo, she thinks things thoroughly. Her sense of justice is very strong, but she doesn't regard herself in such high esteem. Despite her lowly upraising in the slums of Soul Society, Rukia always carried herself gracefully. She thinks of others before herself, which makes her a high-ranked shinigami.

INOUE ORIHIME
Age: 15
Soul: Human with Special Powers.
Powers: Summoning ability for a shield, healing, and an attacking skill.
Weapons: Tsubaki, her attacking "faery"
Comedic Device: She eats strange combinations of food.
Cute and busty and with a personality to match, Inoue is one of Ichigo's classmates who learns of Ichigo's Death God activities. Although she scores high marks in school, Inoue lacks common sense, which leads her to awkward situations. She is, however, very perceptive in certain situations. Inspite of her bright attitude, Inoue has a sad past. After running away from her parents, her older brother raised her until he was killed in an accident. Left alone, Inoue grew up by herself. Despite her past, she gives people the benefit of the doubt, which makes her an almost useless fighter. Seemingly, she has a growing crush on Ichigo.

ISHIDA URYUU
Age: 15
Soul: Quincy (Human with abilities, but despise Shinigami.)
Powers: Ability to shoot arrows of spiritual energy. Also has Flash Step.
Weapons: Bow.
Comedic Device: He's a proud seamstress...er...seamster?
A Quincy with the pride to match, Ishida is the opposite of Ichigo. He isn't as ill-tempered as the orange-haired character and he is one of the smartest students in class, but Ishida can be as stubborn as Ichigo. Ishida, the last of the Quincy race, holds himself high because of the fact, and competes against Ichigo. Although Ishida has a grudge against shinigami, he is righteously cold to both humans and shinigami alike. As the series goes on, he forms a soft spot for the main characters in the story, and becomes less heartless.

Sado "Chad" Yasutora

Soul: Human with Special Powers.
Powers: Summoning hardened armor over his right arm that can shoot spiritual energy.
Weapons: Armor over right arm.
Comedic Device: He's a bit corny....Thumbs Up?!
Dubbed Chad since middle school, Sado is very quiet and easy-going. Although he is huge in stature and powerful in physical strength, Sado is very caring and thoughtful. He speaks only when needed to and he uses his big size to protect others. Despite his protectiveness, the only person able to move him into an offensive mindset is Ichigo.

URAHARA KISUKE

Weapons: Soul Slayer named Benihime
Comedic Device: Pick one. Let's just say he has a strange attachment to his hat.
The manager of a store that specializes in spiritual goods, this Soul Society escapee is a mystery to all of the characters. His actions, although questionable, are always to better the main characters or to protect them. His strange behavior and even bizarre personality makes it nearly impossible to read into his true intentions, but above all, Urahara is incredibly intelligent and quick-witted.

RENJI ABARAI
Age: Slightly older than Rukia.
Soul: Shinigami
Powers: Shinigami
Weapons: Soul Slayer named Zabimaru.
Comedic Device: He's in denial that he's exactly like Ichigo.
A shinigami friend of Rukia's, he could be mistaken as Ichigo's brother. Renji is as short-tempered as Ichigo, but he isn't as rash and careless as the 15-year-old. Although it seems strange that a brash and easily-upsetting soul like Renji would become high-ranked shinigami, Renji doesn't hesitate to protect others. He has a soft spot for Rukia.

KON
Age: Unknown. Old model.
Soul: Modified Soul (A pill that when taken, pushes the soul out of the body while replacing a Modified Soul into the body.)
Powers: Super speed and super strength.
Weapons: None.
Comedic Device: He's a stuffed animal with a fetish for big boobs.
Mistakenly taken once and kept around since, Kon is a stuffed animal that has a limelight complex. Kon is short-tempered, stubborn, and brash, much like Ichigo. He always fights with Ichigo, but deep down, he actually cares for the orange-haired shinigami-human. Although Kon has desires of his own, he doesn't flinch when it comes down to defending others against Hollows.
