This series is pretty good. It surrounds a young girl by the name of Hitomi, who gets taken to another world called Gaea. Hitomi travels with a boy named Van, who she later finds out is new king of a land called Fanelia. Soon Hitomi finds herself running away with Van from Fanelia which gets attacked by an unknown force. They meet up with many strange characters, and gain allies. All the secrets of Gaea, and Atlantis will be revieled in good time. It's a great series all in all.
I suggest this series to anyone who likes a bit of romance, sword fighting and blood, magic, etc. Unlike many anime series though, Escaflowne was created before manga. After the series was finished, only then was Manga created. There are 2 sets of manga for those interested. The Shounen(boys) version is 8 volumes long, and the Shoujo(girls) version is 2 volumes long.
