Digidestined Darkness: Part 8-Light of Day

by Argent Dragon

Note from the Author: For anyone who is curious, the character Allison is really closely modeled after me. Her experiences also parallel mine. Actually, the only thing that I can think of off the top of my head that is different between us is that she is Digidestined. I, however, am not. Thus she's really easy for me to write.
Allison: Izzy and I discovered that the digivices with the Crests of Love, Perseverance, and Light were nearby. Msaada, Jihan, and I went out in search of the Perseverance digivice. We saw a boy run past us before realizing he had the digivice. The three of us followed him and managed to convince him to come to the Digiworld with me. The boy, Taki, and I were attacked by Sardrimon soon after we arrived in the Digiworld. Aurimon showed up and attacked Sardrimon, but was unable to do any damage to him. However, he was able to use the Perseverance Star to digivolve to Peraurimon, who drove off Sardrimon. Izzy and I explained to Taki what a Digidestined is, and he decided to help us. Just three new Digidestined to go.

Kari looked over at TK. "Still nothing, and we've been looking all day."

With a flash of insight, TK replied, "Maybe we're been looking in the wrong places." He turned to Tarini. "Do you know if any of your friends have a digivice?"

Tarini thought about it for a moment. "I think one of them does."

Kari smiled at TK. "Looks like you were right."

Tarini pulled her friend before Kari. "This is Chan," she said. Nudging him, she said, "Show them. You can trust them."

Chan held out a digivice, although reluctantly. It was pink and had the Crest of Light on it. "That's a digivice, alright," Kari said. She knelt down to Chan's level. "I know you're probably thinking that pink is a girl's color, but it isn't the color of the digivice that matters. The fact that you even have one proves you are a Digidestined."

"Digidestined?"

"It's not easy to explain," Kari began. Then Tarini burst in.

"It's having a digivice and being partnered with a Digimon. It's going into the Digiworld and fending off evil Digimon. It's..."

"Perhaps it would be better to show you," TK interrupted.

"Alright."

A short time later, Chan stood in the Digiworld. Kari and Gatomon arrived seconds later. Looking around, Kari noted that they had arrived at night. She saw Sardrimon's dark bulk approaching them. She grabbed Chan's hand and ran, Gatomon leading the way.

When they stopped, Chan looked up at Kari. "Why did we run?"

"Sardrimon," was all she said in reply, even though she knew that wouldn't explain anything to him. Suddenly a feline Digimon pounced on Chan, knocking him down. Before Kari could pull it off him, Gatomon stopped her.

"That's Parmon. He's a loyal Digimon who would never fight for evil," Gatomon said in explanation.

From Chan's digivice came a ray of light that became a five pointed star. The star was a rainbow of colors. Chan grabbed the star with one hand just as Kari spotted Sardrimon again.

"You won't beat me ever again," Sardrimon boasted.

"Don't think so," Parmon replied cockily. "Feline Thunder!"

Sardrimon laughed at Parmon's attack. "I'm not that weak, you fool."

"Give me the star," Parmon roared. Chan threw it to the Digimon. "Now call out Power of Light!"

Chan licked his lips and tried to speak, but nothing came out. Kari felt despair rushing over her.

"Chan, try again!"

Just as the first light of dawn appeared in the Digiworld, Chan spoke loudly. "Power of Light!"

"Parmon Light Star digivolve to...Liparmon."

"He digivolved," Chan asked curiously, but he got no answer.

Liparmon had a lion's mane and a tiger's stripes. The star had become a large mark in his otherwise golden mane. His eyes, a green color with slitted pupils like most felines had, narrowed in determination.

"Claws of Light!"

From all four of Liparmon's paws shot light rays. They hit Sardrimon, forcing him back and giving Liparmon time to ready his next attack.

"Lightning Smash!"

A lightning bolt streaked from the cloudless sky to his Sardrimon. It briefly illuminated the area before disappearing, leaving behind a scorched Sardrimon. "Want some more," Liparmon asked. Sardrimon didn't answer, but instead ran away. Liparmon laughed as he went.

"Wow," Chan murmured. No one heard him.

A light short from Liparmon. It became a small computer with a pink star in one corner. The Crest of Light faded from Chan's digivice. Kari took the computer and handed it to Chan. "Now do you understand what Digidestined do?"

"I think so."

Kari said quietly, "Things were different the first time I came here. Digimon like Gatomon could digivolve on their own, and didn't have the stars to help them either. We had...never mind. What we had isn't important, since we can't use them." She looked down at Chan. "That's what we're trying to restore," she said, hoping he'd understand.

"I understand now, and I'll help in any way I can," Chan said.

When will the Master of Digimon make an appearance? Will the crests and tags play any role at all in this new adventure? Can the new Digidestined, with help from the original Digidestined, actually defeat the Master of Digimon and save the Digiworld? Tune in to find out.
