Digidestined Darkness: Part 21-The Need for Friendship

by Argent Dragon

Note from the Author: I know this plot will sound familiar to the majority of you (aka everyone who has seen all of season 2, and a few who have seen most of it). That's just the way I decided to take this part. I also realize that there is one section of this part that uses bad grammar, but that's the way I wrote it. And there's a reason for the use of the bad grammar...maybe I'll write a big author's note at the end of this whole fanfic to explain.
Tarini: We all went to the Digiworld. Soon after we got there, we were attacked by Darkmegakabuterimon. All of our Digimon, including Bordemon, used the Light Star to digivolve. Our combined attacks caused Darkmegakabuterimon to dedigivolve to Darkkabuterimon. The first Digidestined's Digimon attacked and forced him to dedigivolve to Waspmon. All except Patamon, that is. His Boom Bubble knocked Waspmon into the Master of Digimon, knocking off his mask. We discovered the Master of Digimon is human. We left the Digiworld and Izzy told us that the nine Stars can be used together.

Jihan handed her digivice and computer to Izzy. "Sorry, but I'm not going to keep doing this. I'm through being a Digidestined." She walked out, leaving behind the others who all stared after her.

"I don't like this development," Kari said.

Later, the original Digidestined were discussing the Jihan problem. "I think from here on out, two of us should stay and watch over the events that occur while the new Digidestined are in the Digiworld. That way we'll know if Jihan's needed," Allison said.

"Sounds like a good plan," TK said.

"I volunteer," Matt said.

"Anyone else," Izzy asked. No one answered. "Okay, then Matt, Allison, and I are on gate duty from now on." Allison nodded in agreement, as did Matt. "Anything else we need to do now?" The others shook their heads. "Then I guess the meeting's over."

The remaining new Digidestined gathered the next day. "We're going in without her," Glen said. Izzy nodded. Matt continued to lean against the wall as Izzy opened the gate.

"Gate's open." Izzy held out Jihan's computer and Msaada took it from him.

Jihan sat on the roof of a building. "I gonna miss Geramon. But I ain't gonna change my mind and go back. I no Digidestined," she said, reverting back to her street slang.

Yet she kept being reminded of the Digiworld and the other Digidestined. For example, a passing bluebird reminded her of Persegeramon, while a raincloud forced her to think of Matt and the day she'd gotten caught in the rain. "Geramon..."

The Master of Digimon looked at his remaining flunkies. "Starmon!"

"Yeah, master!"

"Take care of those meddling Digidestined!"

"O' corse, master!"

The Digidestined looked around and saw a Western town. "Where are we?"

"Howdy, pardner."

They turned to see a star shaped Digimon. "Name's Starmon." He held out a pitcher of milk. "Welcome milk, anyone?" They all declined. "Now that I've welcomed ya, y'all are under arrest."

"What for," Taki asked.

"Defyin' the Master o' Digimon." Only then did they really take notice of Starmon's black hat.

Starmon set their computers, and Jihan's, out of their reach. The digivices were piled near the computers. "Y'all stay there, ya hear?" Starmon walked out of the room.

"What are we going to do now?"

"Hope Jihan comes," Sarran answered softly.

Jihan walked the streets near her home. She heard someone calling her name and saw Matt. She waited until he was close, then said, "I'm not coming back."

Matt grabbed her arm. "Jihan, they need you."

"So?"

Matt shook his head. "You don't understand. If you don't help them, then wierd things will start to happen."

"Sorry, pal, but that makes no sense."

"Let's see if I can't make you see, Jihan."

"Go ahead and try, but I'm not going back no matter what you say."

"Darn it, Jihan, I'm trying."

"Go ahead."

"If you don't help them, the Master of Digimon will win. If he wins, then the Digiworld will be corrupted, I guess. If that happens, who knows what will happen to this world. I know you're old enough to remember the last time the Digiworld was corrupted. Here, it snowed in the middle of summer. That's just one example of the wierd things that might happen."

"And I care, because...?"

Matt held her arms firmly as he strove to get his point across. "Do you think the Master of Digimon is going to settle for ruling only the Digiworld? And if he comes at this one, he isn't going to let any Digidestined stay alive."

"I'll help, but only because it'll save me."

"Whatever, so long as you help."

The Master of Digimon smiled. "At last, the end of the Digidestined." From his perch on Airdramon's head, he leaned forward. "Starmon will be rewarded for this."

Jihan and Geramon snuck into the prison. "Jihan! I'm glad to see you," Tarini said. Jihan didn't reply, but instead picked up her computer. The motion revealed her digivice at her waist.

"Power of Light!"

"Geramon Light Star digivolve to...Ligeramon."

"Galactic Crush!"

Ligeramon managed to blast a hole in the bars large enough for them to escape. "Get going," Jihan said, handing her computer to Sarran.

Starmon turned. "What are ya doin' out of yor cell?"

"Just taking care of business," Sarran replied. She stepped back and held out Jihan's computer. The others understood what she had planned and each touched the computer.

Once they all had contact with it, they yelled, "Power of Friendship!"

"Bordemon Friendship Star digivolve to...Fribordemon."

"Aurimon Friendship Star digivolve to...Fraurimon."

"Trisermon Friendship Star digivolve to...Fritrisermon."

"Parmon Friendship Star digivolve to...Friparmon."

"Labumon Friendship Star digivolve to...Frilabumon."

"Lupimon Friendship Star digivolve to...Frilupimon."

"Sparromon Friendship Star digivolve to...Frisparromon."

"Daraimon Friendship Star digivolve to...Fridaraimon."

Fribordemon stood on two strong legs. Her chest was covered with the Friendship Star. Above and below it, the edges were touching small white stars. She looked fairly fragile, but had to be stronger than she looked.

Fraurimon was primarily blue with golden markings on her back. His hands and feet were webbed, apparently to aid in swimming. He had no wings. The Friendship Star was a mask on his face.

Fritrisermon had the face of a shark, although her face still retained its horns. The Friendship Star formed a skin for her face. Her body was sleek, perfect for moving through the water. Her eyes were a blue-green color.

Friparmon had large blue wings. He looked like a winged cat with blue fur. The Friendship Star wrapped around the tip of his tail. Claws unsheathed, he leapt into flight.

Frilabumon was a blue beetle. Bright in color, he took to flight easily. The Friendship Star, although on his back, was only visible once he spread his wings.

Frilupimon looked very similar to Lupimon, but she was much larger. Another difference was that her fur, longer than before, had white tips. She appeared very alert. The Friendship Star was on the back of one ear.

Frisparromon was a large heron. The Friendship Star had become armor around his throat. He spread his wings in order to protect his partner, Ashi. He spared Ashi one protective glance before returning his attention to his enemy, Starmon.

Fridaraimon was the largest of the Friendship Star Digimon. She was covered in sea green fur. Her feet were webbed paws. The Friendship Star was a mark on one of her paws. She blinked her blue eyes in surprise at the astonishment Vari had in her partner's appearance.

Starmon wasn't daunted by the prospect of facing the nine Digimon. "I ain't scared o' ya!"

"You should be," Jihan yelled.

"Meteor Shower!"

Starmon's attack caused Ligeramon to dedigivolve. Jihan got her computer back from Sarran. "Power of Friendship!"

"Geramon Friendship Star digivolve to...Frigeramon."

"River Thunder!"

"Typhoon Wind!" Frisparromon attacked next.

"Shark Bite!" Fritrisermon wasn't about to be left out of the fight.

"Ice-Star Shower!" Fribordemon struck after her.

"Celetrial Blizzard!" Friparmon joined in next.

"Sleet Blast!" Frilabumon followed their lead.

"Ice Wolf Slash!" Frilupimon attacked next.

"Sea Crush!" The massive Fridaraimon was the next of the Friendship Star Digimon to attack.

"Dragon Wave!" Fraurimon was the last to attack, but her attack was one of the most powerful.

As one, the nine attacks struck Starmon's hat, destroying it.

The Master of Digimon knew the hat, his means of controlling Starmon, had been destroyed. "I will defeat the Digidestined! I will!"

Tarini looked at Jihan. "Are you one of us again," she asked.

Jihan looked away from the little girl. "From here on out, what I do, I do to save myself. Not to save our messed up world or the Digiworld. Just to save myself."

"Then you aren't one of us," Sarran shot. Jihan nodded.

Will Jihan become a full Digidestined again? Will she realize what is at stake besides her own life? Will the new Digidestined be able to cope with this change in their number? Tune in next time to find out.
