Chocolate Chunk Brownies

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Baking time: 35 to 40 minutes

For one 8-by-8-inch pan of brownies you will need:
1/2 cup butter on margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup toasted almonds, pecans, or walnuts
4 oz. semisweet chocolate squares

1. melt butter. add the sugar, eggs, cocoa and vanilla
2. Combine the flour and baking powder. stir into teh chocolate mixture
3. toast teh nuts by spreading in a single layer in shallow pan. bake at 325 degress farenheight for 10 to 15 minutes
4. coarsely chop teh chocolate squares, keeping in large chunks
5. stir in the nuts and chocolate to batter
6. spread batter in an 8-by-8-inch baking pan taht is lightly greased
7. bake at 350 degress farenheight for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out barely moist.
8. cool in pan on a rack. cut into squares and serve.
