GreenBottleBlue

The Venezuelan Greenbottle Blue is a semi-arboreal tarantula indigenous to dry bush areas of Venezuela. These spiders produce profuse amounts of webbing and are easily one of the prettiest species you will ever see due to their bright, vivid coloration.

Greenbottles are a nervous spider which readily flick urticating hairs. At it's popularity rate, an average price for 3inch individuals is around 50$-60$ Thats alot!

other info Cage size: Many people keep these in large cages. An aquarium is your best bet, due to this spiders semi-aboreal habits

Temperment: Somewhat docile, although quite skittish not as much of a biter as it is a hair flicker.

Decor: Basic aboreal habitat, corkbark, fake plants, a ground retreat.

Substrate: 50/50 mix of vermilicute and peat. It should be 3"-4" deep. As this spider does spend time on the ground. No sand, no gravel.

Food: Crickets,pinkies,and superworms

Other: This spider is quite picky, and needs extra attention. One breeder i know is Pet center USA. For intermediate and advanced keepers only!

Humidity:Moderate, spraying 2-3 times a week, and a water bowl should do the trick.

Heat: Heat pad is a must, and a red heat light designed for reptiles will also work

HonduranCurlyHair

The Curly Hair tarantula is a burrowing species found in the tropical forests of Central America. This non-aggressive, stocky terrestrial has proven to be one of the hardiest tarantulas in captivity.

This tarantula is an awesome spider to have in your collection. A collection isn't complete without at least one of these little guys. (or should i say big guys). The curly hair is more than just a brown tarantula, in the right light, the long hairs glow gold, green, yellow, and even blue!

other info Cage size: Many people keep these in large aquariums, because it is not a deep burrower, it makes an exelent show spider. But it can also be kept in a medium sweater box.

Temperment: Very docile, rarely a biter, rarely flicks hairs. Although some say otherwise. Perfect beginner tarantula

Decor: Not much needed, due to these guys stocky size. A wood retreat is a good cage item. Some fake plants can also be added if desired. (note, some plant can be chewed and swallowed by your pet, choose strong plastic, nontoxic plants)

Subsrate: 50/50 of vermilicute and peat. Or a 30 vermilicute 40 potting soil and 30 peat. No sand, No gravel.

Food: crickets, pinkies, super worms, and even the ocasional fuzzy mouse.

Other: This spider makes a great pet and can be handled. BUT TAKE CAUTION WHEN DOING SO, A FALL CAN INJURE OR KILL THIS AND ALL TARANTULAS.

Humidity: Misting cage 4-5 times a week, this is a tropical species and needs humid air. A water bowl is also REQUIRED. But good ventilation is also a must.

Heat: Heat rocks, heat pads, or a red heat lamp used for herps will work

Starburst

The Usumbara Baboon spider is a beautiful, bright orange spider. They are native to the dry regions of eastern Africa and are commonly found in silken burrows on the outside of human dwellings. They are extremely aggressive and will attempt to bite if you look at them funny.

HAHA. These guys are a bad choice for beginner. All of the above is true. Even though they are common, beautiful, and inexpensive. Wait untill you have been a collector for a couple of months.

other info Cage size: Big! These guys are leggy and mean! They are also deep burrowers and big webbers too. A 10 to 20 gallon tank is big enough. Butsweater boxes are actually better. Although pretty, they spend 95% 0f their time deep in their burrows. They are not great show spiders.

Temperment: Rotten. You know your old school bully? Times his temperment by 20... and you got one of these spiders. Do not handle these spiders as their venom is more potent than any of the above tarantulas. And their hairs are very bad too.

Decor: you don't have to be Martha Stewart. In fact these spiders would appreciate having a bare tank.

Substrate: Anything thats holds together well. A 50/50 of peat and vermilucute is good

Food: When young crickets, as they get older don't bother, feed them pinkies and fuzzy mice. Lots of fuzzy mice.

Other: Dont handle these babies. They are a very low mantainice spider. Perfect if you travel alot.

Humidity: Low to medium. These guys are from africa. Misting the cage 1-3 times a week is good. Also provide a water dish. When molting mist more often. At no point should the substate be swampy.

Heat:From Africa need heat. A heat pad and a heat lamp that is dark colored will work
