Coldplay: Grady Cole Center; Charlotte, NC

This was the second time I got to see Coldplay live in concert. I did get to take some pictures this time, but they came out of crappy. I traveled by bus all the way from PA just to see them live. Even though the trip was tiring, I was happy I went because the concert was absolutely amazing.

First off...I am such an idiot!
I got to the venue at 12pm and was the first and only person in line...some of the guys working there wondered why I came so early and asked where I was from...I told them PA and they were really surprised I came all that way...Then they said I could come in and hang out inside, but I was all shy about it and said no...and they said it was okay, so I went inside. So, I just sat around at the venue and heard the crew do the sound checks...and I did see Coldplay on stage...they weren’t playing or anything.
Then, later on, another guy tells me I can’t be there and kicks me out. So I go from the first to around the 30th or whatever in line. I will never ever get over that!!!(okay, I will...but ya know what I mean...) :( I felt like banging my head against the wall a million times!! argh...Next time, I’ll just sit out in the cold the whole time and not move! You live and learn, I guess...
Okay, sorry...I just had to vent about that, but I still had a great time and enjoyed each and every one of the songs. And I did meet some cool people in line too.

Ron Sexsmith was the opener for the concert...He played for about 45 minutes. Good music, I liked it.
I think we had to wait about a half an hour until Coldplay came on, and when they did, the crowd went crazy and the band went right into the first song, Politik. It was a great opener...there was a lot of energy from the band and the crowd on this one and the light show was fantastic.
This was the first time I heard Shiver live(among many other songs, but I wanted to hear this song the most). The band jumped from song to song, playing Spies, Daylight, and Warning Sign brilliantly. One I Love was THE song of the night for me...that song always gets me in a good mood and when they played it, I cheered like mad. The band really rocked out on this song, especially Jonny on the guitar.
At one point, they had 4 big screens hanging that showed all the band members...very cool. I forget when though, I pretty sure it was towards the middle of the show until the end...
The venue was really tiny(looked like a high school gym)...at one point, Chris joked that he felt weird being in the venue because it seemed like they were in school and at the end, he said that they wanted to play one more song before the principal came...LOL
During Don’t Panic, Jonny played the harmonica solo and threw it into the crowd again....Everything’s Not Lost was another highlight of the night...everyone sang along and toward the end, Chris had the crowd sing the last verse. The crowd was shy about it(not me!). Will started singing and then, we sang the verse again and the whole band seemed very pleased...at one point, Chris said "this is fuckin’ awesome..." Then came one of their new songs, Moses. Chris said that the song is about "falling in love with the most beautiful girl or guy or whoever..." I had only heard this song online and it was just with the piano and guitar...but this time, they had the full band play and there were more lyrics...It definetly sounded like a more complete song, and it was just a great, great song. Then, came God Put A Smile...; another good song, played well by the whole band. Yellow, of course was another highlight of the night. At the start of the song, Chris jumped up and down like a maniac(he didn’t play the guitar for this one) and got the crowd all excited. Everyone sang along of course, and it was a lot of fun. :) Then came the song, The Scientist...a lot of people sang along to this song too and Chris kept on saying it would be the last song of the night(which I knew was a lie...).
When The Scientist ended, the whole venue cheered and clapped like mad...the whole band waved and clapped nicely at the crowd and then left. No one stopped clapping(and the occasional stomping of chairs and chanting) until Coldplay came out on stage again a couple minutes later.
The band then went right into Clocks, one of my favorite tracks...I cheered really loud this time and everyone stared at me...
Then, they played In My Place...the crowd cheered again for about the millionth time and everyone sang along. Chris did a little dance at the beginning and later in the song, he made fun of Justin Timberlake again by singing a verse from one of his songs..."I just wanna love ya baby!" haha...I was laughing so hard. Chris also kept on running up the stage and throwing the mic to the crowd so everyone could sing the part..."yeaaaaaaaahhh, how long must you wait for it...". Lots of energy and fun on this one.
Then came, Trouble...another one of my favorite tracks. At the end, Chris turned the mic to the crowd to sing "they spun a web for me...". We were sort of caught off guard, so the first try was kinda poor...Chris just laughed and said..."we were doing so well the last hour and half, let’s not screw it up now...let’s make the best of it." Chris went on with the song and everyone sang along loud and clear.
They played one more song...a new one...called Ladder to the Sun. I can’t really remember the lyrics, but the song was really beautiful. And that was the last song of the night.
Chris thanked the crowd and the whole band came up and clapped and waved nicely at the crowd again. The band threw guitar picks and water bottles to the crowd...and Will threw his drum sticks to the crowd as well. The concert was over after about an hour and half...and I am still not over it...I had such a great time at the concert and it was completely worth the trip!
I could see the whole band pretty good, except for Guy, because a speaker was in my way...I also bought a t-shirt with the tour dates on the back and checked out the ‘make trade fair’ tables where the people were very helpful. The band seemed very happy and obviously the crowd was...The whole band played very well and Jonny and Will rocked out especially at certain parts of the show...
But...WOW, I’m just still not over the concert....I’m just very glad I went!!! :)
