For the past two years, Zone 1 has been involved in organising campdrafting schools and competitions. Ridgewood Heights Pony Club members have been quite active in this event, as it is something different to the usual.
In a brief description, the aim of a campdraft is for competitors to block a cow from its heard in the 'camp'. Then try to direct it or guide it through the course, (this being either left hand or right hand course).

The minimum time limit to complete the course is 40 seconds and the maximum, 50 seconds. When scoring a campdraft, the total amount of points that a competitor may get is 100 points. Points are allocated for certain performance tasks including cut-out: 26 points, horse-work: 70 points, and course: 4 points. There are no less than 6 head of cattle in the camp at anyone time and the maximum amount is left up to the judge.
