One of the biggest cult classics in anime, and at the same time, one of the most contraversal. If you like long running epics, read on ...

Story is probably Eva's biggest draw. Angel's are attacking Tokyo 3, and it is up to the giant Evangelion mechs, and there determined 14 year old pilots to stop all threats. That is the main idea, but I don't think I could fit a proper story-summary on this page. You start out knowing almost nothing, and after every video you get a small glimps of whats actually going on. That, and there are so many twists and turns in the plot. It is almost impossible to completely know whats going on until the very end, and even now I am still pretty confused. I think the only downside to this entire series is the happy-go-luckey ending. After such an epic series, It just didn't seem to do the series justice.

The animation of Eva is ever changing. At times, it is really detailed and great, but at others, it just looks half-assed, and sloppy. The prime example of this is during the first episodes : The characters, and Eva's look great, but after the first video, the animation seems to change with every video. It's not completely great, and then bad, it just looks different. The one thing that Eva probbaly gets the most recognition for, is the amazing character animation. Rei Ayanami is probaly one of anime's biggest "pinn-up" girls, and besides her, every character looks sweet.

Another great aspect of Eva is the amazing cast of characters. led by the great main character Shinji Ikari, who isn't the worlds greatest hero, but more over, a normal kid who questions life, and everything around it. The whole story mostly revolves around him, and as the series goes on, we get to watch him change from a whiney little dork, to an all out Badass!! If Shinji were the only character, this series world still be great, but he's not so, the series gets even better. Every character in this series has completely different personalities, and learning about each character is half the fun of the show. And finnaly every character is portrayed by a great voice actor.

I'll start this off by asking, have you ever heard the song "Cruel Angel's Thesis"? If not, Then I know that you don't listen to much J-Pop. Led by that sweet theme song, Eva has a pretty darn enjoyable soundtrack. The song's get kind of repetative, but thats only if you watch each video 40 times! (like I did to try and understand the story. ^_^ ) The sound effects are filled with great explosions, gun fire, and metal clanging as the huge Eva's fight. And Lastly is the voice acting. This voice acting is proabably some of the best work by AD Vision. (With the exception of Samurai X) All and all, Eva is pretty good on the ears! ^_^

Entertainment in Eva can be found in all shapes and sizes. Surprisingly the story is the most entertaining part of the series, and I told you why before. And above all that, are the great fight scenes, that are scattered all over the series. Some of the fight scenes last entire episodes, and others can last only 5 minutes or so. But I can guarantee that If you semi-understand whats going on, You will love every minute of this series.

Final Thought
One of my favorite series' to date. The only downsides, are a few boring episodes, and an ending that just doesn't do the series justice.
