Keep in mind that this movie was made in the 80's, and the story makes it really show. 3 Rookie Girl Police officers are pitted up against a drug syndicate in their large city. Other than that there really isn't any story or character development.
If there is one key factor that makes this movie so darn unenjoyable is the horible 80's style animation. I guess for it's time it was probably pretty good, but to today's standards it's pretty bad! The characters are the worst part. The setting animation is allright, but everything just looks so .... so ... well, 80's!!
Besides their lame look, and in-imaginative hair styles, the characters of Burn Up aren't so bad. The two main characters aren't anything special, but the pink haired girl is allway's full of hilarious comments, which in turn, actually save the movie! (In my opinion.) I think back to her famous sayings like : "I've been there before!"
Music is definatly horrible. I mean .. without a doubt!!! there is absolutly nothing special. The vocal theme to the movie sucks, the lame 80's (supposed,) hard-rock soundtrack sucks, and everything inbetween just plain sucks. That also includes the pretty harsh voice acting. Although, this all goes back to my original thought ... it was all made in the 80's!
Entertainment wise, Burn Up is only worth a rental, if that. Even the very few action sequences are bad. I was expecting a huge grand finnaly to make up for the rest of the lame movie, but unfortunatly I was once again let down. (Just like I was with the rest of the movie.)
