The multy-follow-up, to the hit series that started it all. Does it match up? I think it ownes it, and then some.

If you didn't like The original series with episode, after episode of enemy attacks, scouts defeat, then I can assure you that you will not like this series. But it is better in many respects. The first R series is the doom tree, which is one of my favorite series'. The main villens, Allen, and Anne, (American names,) are probably my favorite. Although I do get tired of hearing the plot repeated over and over. Do you remember : "If the tree dies, we die!" ? Well I do. Both the doom tree series, and nega-moon series, as well as every other SM series follow the same exact format. Villen arives, the try to take over the world, be gathering enery in a different way, and in every episode the scouts will the battle. It is kind of un-original, but for some reason, it works. Although if you watch the series over and over again, the repetitiveness, (If that is a word,) will start to get the beter of you.

Probably the biggest difference, (leave it as it may,) is still a small difference. It is the animation. The characters just gained a crisper face-lift. And the fight scenes look a lot better. The biggest differences are found in the attack sequences. Sailor Moon's "Moon Scepter Ellimination," looks a billion times better than her previous attack. It's actually a move that you wouldn't mind sitting through 100 times. And don't worry because you will! At the other end, are the transformation scenes. With the exception of Sailor Moon's, all of them look exactly the same as the last series. Which can be annoying, becuase they have all new powers, but like I said before, not much has changed. You be the judge.

As in the first series, the characters are one of the greatest aspects of the show. There are no new changes in the character line-up, but the villens are different, and I like them a lot more than the originals. Alan and Ann are probably my favorite SM bad guys. The don't even seem evil, becuase they are so likable. I don't know if that's a good villan trait, but at least they are entertaining to watch. Getting back to the main characters, it's kind of hard to talk about them, becuase pretty much nothing has changed except for the different situations that they face in this series. I think that the Doom Tree Series is the best 13 episodes for the main characters. As for the nega-Moon series, we very unluckily end up with Reeny, or Chibi-usa. Man do I hate that girl. Not only is she annoying, and dumb looking ... but she doesn't do annything! If there has ever been a new character that has made a show worse, it is her!!

Just like the original series, the japanese music is the best! Although it is unheard in the US series, it is worth finding online. The redone US music is ok, but can grow to be annoying very fast. Sound effects are nothing special. (not much has changed there.) And finnaly is voice acting, which can be scored like this ; if you liked the original voice acting, you will like this voice acting, or vise-versa. As for me, I didn't really like the original voices at first, but it started to grow on me. And by the time I saw the R Series, I loved it!

The Entertainment in all of the Sailor Moon Series' come from the funny characters, (and the situations they get into in each episode,) and the fight scenes at the end of each episode. Besides those two things, the most entertaining part of the show is during the middle of each series when the story starts to heat up. This usually happens when the girls get new powers, or the actual plot starts to unravel. That middpoint doesn't happen in the Doom Tree Series because it is too short. It happens in the nega-moon series when rubious is defeated, and the true end villan is revealed.

Story
Another repetitive good vs. evil plot that works pretty well.

Animation
Our favorite scouts get a little bit of a face lift, and the attack sequences get an even bigger one!

Characters
Same great characters, (except for Reeny,) But some great new villans!
9
Music
Again, the best damn J-Pop Music, (with decent american music,) allright sounds, and voice acting that grows on you.
10
Entertainment
Just like the original, it can get repetive, but not nearly as much.

Final Thought
Sailor Moon to the next level. It's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction.
