-----A few years ago, Kyle had been out driving with his girlfriend Diane. They had been having a good time together, but focusing on making his girlfriend laugh instead of paying attention to the road got them into an accident.

-----Kyle had lost her that day. He had been filled with so much anguish and guilt that he went to a temple and prayed to numerous deities spanning many pantheons, hoping one could grant him his wish: for Diane to live in his place.

-----Hades heard his prayer and offered him and Diane a choice if they wanted to stay together: to switch places every solstice. Also, during every solstice they could be together; one day every six months they could touch and speak to the other, but it could only be done in spirit form so Kyle's body would remain asleep for the whole day.

-----They agreed. When the first Summer solstice arrived, Kyle and Diane were overjoyed. But the reunion could only last for so long. And when the sun set, Diane found herself waking up in Kyle's body, in his room, while Kyle, in Diane's body, returned to the afterlife.

-----And so it went, and they both kept their love as alive as it had been that fateful day despite one of them not being alive at all anymore. Not even spending time in the other's body during the Winter solstice could cause their love to flounder. The final moments were always sad, but they knew that they would be together again. So long as the long-lived Earth continued to open the gate that seperated the living from the dead, then they would be together forever, in life and in death.
