Amidst the thick mist of a lake, a young princess contacted her love, calling him from the life beyond. So strong was their bond that he swiftly came, transitioning from the spirit of the beyond and into the spirit of the physical. However, being that the nature of the elemental spirit of water was feminine, it was thus that his form followed function.

Fortunately (having been enlightened by death), he had no qualms about having a female form and (being that her love for him was so strong) neither did she mind his form as well. It was with this acceptance that allowed them to communicate easily, and thus he used his elemental senses to lead her and her aid across the lake without incident.

Meanwhile, they related a lot to each other, about things both new and old: about life after death; what they had done during their separation; about the elder that helped to arrange her escape on the boat, and ferried them even now; her discovery regarding how she wasn't royalty by blood, and had been adopted by the King for his own interests; his death when their love had been discovered, because she already had a marriage arranged for her; and how they were going to escape the clutches of the King.

He swore that he'd still protect her, as if he were still a royal guard. Being an elemental spirit wouldn't stop him from doing that, nor stop either of them from continuing their relationship. She knew that her communing with the spirits could provide help for the people of the country, but she knew that she had to leave because the King was only interested in using her for improving his chances of victories in the wars that he waged.

They were going to disappear into the mists, and be obscured by time. Perhaps to reappear again when she (an elemental medium) can have the freedom to offer aid to those in need.
