Two children, a girl and a boy, had grown up together and thus had become friends. When they noticed how typical it was for the other boys and girls of their age to not share the same sentiments between each another, as they did, they began to wonder about it. Insodoing they decided that they would only know the answer if they switched places and experienced the differing lives of boys and girls. Using a special magic, the kind that only children of their age could possess, they made the swap after the end of school so they could spend time as each other during the Summer break. However, as the boy in the girl's body waved goodbye to their friend, along with giving them a conspiratorial wink, they had no idea that the girl's family would move away sometime during the Summer. |

At their age they hadn't paid much attention to phone numbers and addresses, nor did they know their parents' names, and so they couldn't contact each other. By the time they could have done so they had already gotten accustomed to their new lives and routines, and the thought had simply never crossed their minds. By the time that they had become a young woman and a young man, it had been the grace of a chance meeting that had allowed them to recall the childhood that had slipped away from their minds. However, it had only been the connection of their childhood magic, which still tied them together strongly, that had allowed them to realize their identities. Their chance meeting was at a bit of an awkward moment, made all the more awkward since the young man had asked if the young woman would like to "go out" with him in front of the other people that were in line. The young woman knew that it wasn't a date that the young man had asked for, being that they needed somewhere to go in order to catch up on their lives, but the thought had nonetheless crossed her mind since, well, that was the sort of girl that she now was. |
