Long before joining Myotismon's Army, Wizardmon was a loner, wandering from village to village. He was always alone, and expected no one to notice or care for him. One day he wandered into a town, tired and weak. He collapsed, expecting to die forsaken and lonely, when a cat Digimon named Gatomon helped him. She gave him water and took him to her campfire. From then on, Wizardmon pledged his loyalty to Gatomon.

Wizardmon was then enlisted in Myotismon's Army along with Gatomon. After awhile, children called the Digi-destined showed up. They (Wizardmon and Gatomon and others) were given Crests and sent to find them. Gatomon happened to be the Eighth Digi-destined's Digimon, but she didn't know because of her loyalty to Myotismon. However, Wizardmon knew because she had told him that she was waiting for someone, but she didn't know who it was. Wizardmon then started searching for the Eighth Digi-destined, not for Myotismon, but for Gatomon. Later, he had found the Eighth Digi-destined's digi-vice in a crow's nest. Taking it to Gatomon, he convinced her to talk to the Eighth Digi-destined. Who was Tai's sister, Kari.

Kari and Gatomon met, and then realized that Kari needed her Crest. The Crest of Light. Wizardmon and Gatomon then set out to get Kari's Crest. It was in Myotismon's coffin, but Myotismon had left. They got the Crest, but it turned out to be a fake. Unfortunately, Myotismon reappeared and was holding the real Crest. Wizardmon and Gatomon fought back, but it was all in vain. Myotismon realized Gatomon was the Eight Digi-destined's Digimon and took her. Wizardmon was taking away by Myotismon's "bats thingie".

Wizardmon later appeared when Joe and TK shortly defeated Metal Seadramon. Am I right? I'm not sure. But this time Wizardmon had the real Crest (I don't know how he got it) and told them to give it to Kari.

Wizardmon went along with the Digi-destined to rescue Kari. But first, he had to heal Lillymon, who was zapped into paralysis by Myotismon. After a short "Kari-catch-this!" scene, Myotismon procedes to hit Kari and Gatomon with "Grisly Wing." Wizardmon threw himself into the path of the attack. Gatomon knelt over Wizardmon and said that he's her friend forever. Imagine real touching scene.
