My View of Gundam Wing

This is my view of Gundam Wing, and my opinions of it. Please, no flames, these are just my opinions.

I believe that Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is more than just a shoot-em-up cartoon show. To me, it seems to have more depth than any other shoot-em-up tv series. I have never seen a show that goes more into detail of a realistic war. The different players:

Triez- "Noble" must be his favorite word, he believes that war is normal for humans, but must have civilty. He thinks war is a beautiful thing
Heero- Mr. "I-Have-No-Opinion-On-War-Just-Give-Me-My-Mission-And-I'll-Do-It" He's been raised to be an emotion-less killer since he was a child. Now and then he shows signs that he does have feelings, he just hides them in order for him to be a better soldier.
Duo- He wants to cheer everyone up and make them smile, but he knows the heartache of war, and he knows how to fight
Quatre- comes from a pacifist family, had to break away from it to join the war. He hates war, he just knows that fighting is the right thing to do at this time
Trowa- ? he's the mystery man. But one thing intrigues me about him. While he had amnesia, he knew absolutely nothing of the Gundam pilots or the war going on around him. But still, something was still there. You could see when he heard the word "Gundam". It made him shudder. It made him think of the horrors of war and fighting. The war never left his heart, though it was forgotten in his mind. It was like it was imprinted on his soul or something.
WuFei- ? he's a mystery as well, though I've heard that his soon-to-be-wife was killed by Triez and that's why WuFei's got such a grudge against him
Zechs- His homeland was destroyed by the Alliance. Now he wants revenge, but he goes too far when he decides he wants to destroy the world
Lady Une- Will do anything for Triez (it gave her multiple personalities. Thanks a lot, Triez!!)
Lt. Noin- Will do anything for Zechs (It caused her quite a few problems when Zechs decided to blow up Earth)
Relena- Ms. "I'm-Going-To-End-This-Stupid-War-No-Matter-What"
The Alliance- their power went to their heads and got too controlling
OZ- took over the Alliance and was controlling, acts sweet on the outside to make the colonists accept them
Romefeller- dangerous organization that wants to control the colonies and the world with a dictatorship
Triez Faction- followed Triez in breaking away from Romefeller
White Fang - They think the only way to end problems is to end Earth.
The colonies- Just want the war to end, so they'll follow just about anyone who'll end it.

You see? These characters are more than just drawings on a paper. They have such personalities, they're almost human. They're so real, with such real personalities. This anime shows us war from many different points of view. Like Relena's, she wants to end it by making everyone free. Triez wants to have the whole world under control. The Gundams fight because they have no other way to live. Heero once said that in the time of fighting, one must fight. They have no way of living during this war other than to keep pushing, keep fighting onward, in hopes that it just might end. Gundam Wing shows us so much in the ways of characters, plots, and more. It's not just a "shoot-em-up" show or another dumb cartoon, it's a way of looking at life and war. It's showing us war from all points of view, not just the "good guy's". Maybe the "bad guy" has a point, too. I mean, look at White Fang. They wanted to destroy Earth, but before you just label them as the "bad guy", look at their objectives. They wanted to show the world how awful war is. There is no "bad guy" and "good guy" in this war. My brother, for example, came over while I was watching it one day. He kept asking, "is that the bad guy? is that the bad guy?? hey, who's the bad guy anyway?" And now I realize why. In the way war is usually portrayed, there is one team labeled "Bad" and another labeled "Good". And you root for the one labeled "Good". But in Gundam Wing, they portray it as war really is. There is no definite "good" or "bad", there's a bunch of organizations, all fighting against each other. And people break away from organizations, and make alliances with each other, and they're always changing, always changing. So I believe that Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is more than just a shoot-em-up cartoon. It's a view on life.
