Shattered Stillness

Gentle young life, so full of promise,~~ Gunned down by strife, sadness upon us.~~ Blood spilled by hate so others may see~~ Life is all fate with luck as the key.~~~~ Someone so kind, one heart full of love~~ Righteous in mind, now sees from above.~~ Shattered by violence then taken by Death~~ Now speaks with silence, no more draws a breath.~~~~ Why rae you gone? Why were you taken?~~ Life like a dawn now leaves us shaken.~~ You were a light, beacon to others.~~ Gentle in might; thy light, sleep smothers.~~~~ Your mem’ry lives in hearts of many.~~ Your thought still gives more hope than any.~~ Yet there you lie, so still and so cold;~~ Why did you die? You should have grown old.~~~~ Life is unfair in more ways than one.~~ Live as we dare ‘til our time is done.~~ Now we will mourn, weep into the night~~ Though you are bourne by the Lord’s sweet Light.
