Night sweats clinically referred to as sleep hyperhidrosis is a condition which causes a woman to sweat during the night either mildly or profusely. Night sweats are generally similar in nature to hot flashes only that hot flashes occur when a woman is awake. Night sweats often end up disrupting a woman’s sleep and this eventually disrupts how she functions. Night sweats are characterized by headaches, intense heat, chills, irregular heartbeat, flushing and nausea. Night sweats are presents itself in menopausal women due to hormonal imbalances. Declining estrogen levels affects the body’s temperature control, resulting in hot flashes when a woman is awake and night sweats during the night.
