I started the Red Hot Tamales in October of 2004.
I had no idea who would join!! My job was so busy that I didn't do a thing with it until I asked ten people to go to the Down-town Christmas walk on December 1, 2004 and eight showed up!!
Who I now refer to as the original eight Red Hot Tamales!!
On December 3, 2004 I had open heart surgery ( Quad bypass),which set us back a little, but not for long!!!
In February 2005 Princess Pinky , Claire Edgecomb and my self Char Mathes( Queen Mum) met Suzanne Wainwright for the first time at Chesapeake for lunch, we have been growing and going strong ever since!!
As you can see from the pictures, we welcome Pink Hatter's they keep us Red Hatter's young!!
Remember the rules they are very simple!!
While there are no rules (royalty, after all doesn't abide by rules), the Red Hat Society does offer three EXTEMELY STRONG guidelines:
Women fifty years of age or older must wear red hats and purple clothing at all official Red Hat Society events.
Women under fifty must wear pink hats and lavender clothing at all official Red Hat Society events.
Members of the Red Hat Society must promise to have FUN and treat one another with kindness and consid-eration.”
Our offical Instrument are the Kazoo's!!
