Reflection

I found this assignment to be very challenging, but in the end very rewarding. The aspect that I was most proud of accomplishing was the actual completion of a website. I had never made a website before and I felt incredibly overwhelmed. I tried to complete it using word and then upload it to the Internet, but this was a very complicated process. I finally succeeded by using ‘Angelfire’. Once I discovered how to use ‘Angelfire’, the creation of a website became fun and exciting. I felt a much greater sense of accomplishment when I was finished than I would have if I had simply completed an essay. I did not have very many complications with the essay itself. It was a little difficult to incorporate my interview into the historical component of my essay. I really enjoyed interviewing Sharon because she is an EA in the classroom where I do my practical teaching and I know her fairly well. It was very interesting to see what she had to say about her specific job and the status of special education. For a class just beginning this project I would give them the advice to not panic at the thought of having to create a website. However, I would advise them to start early by practicing with different ways of creating websites and seeing which one they prefer and understand the best. I think this is very important. If I had to do this assignment again I think I would interview more than one person. This would give me a broader view of the education of special needs students.
