Chandra Venegas

Animal Communicator

"I have always loved all animals, and horses especially. As a child I was drawn to them, and I found that most came to me. As I got older I began to work with other people's horses that they were afraid of, or ones that had been abused, or were "spoiled". I worked hard at it, and yet sometimes things came to me, such as I knew for some reason that a horse would blow up over a certain small movement, even if it was at the time perfectly calm, and that movement was seemingly non threatening. So I learned to follow these hunches, which kept me safer and I found ways to reach the ones that were hurting inside, and help them trust again, without triggering them. I found myself saying things out loud like, "Oh she just doesn't like that, or so and so". Or perhaps instinctively going immediately to the tack that the person was using and finding that the offender wasn't necessarily the horse, but the gear. I always just thought it was "horse sense".

Several years later, after a lot of lessons from the animals, whom I always seemed to learn more from than anyone, and heartbreak too; I found myself working in a place where the people loved and cherished their companions as much as I did. It was here that I became acquainted with my lifelong dream of animal communication. And as much as I had always wanted it, I wanted less to be taken in and have it be fake. So I was nervous and skeptical, but in the end, I found solid proof. My friends and I began on a journey to do what we had dreamed. That was almost 5 years ago. I have been working with others and their companions and my own since then and feel so blessed to be able to reach out and know I am not alone, no matter where I am. It is even more rewarding to know I have helped others come to an understanding.

The first conversation I ever really "heard" and acknowledged for what it was, was rather silly in it's own way. I was cleaning the barn out one day and was alone, no one was due to show up for a hour or so, and most of the horses were out, except a couple including my Arab gelding Stormy. I had just had my hair cut off rather drastically from the long length it had been, I was still feeling a little self conscious about it when suddenly I heard loud as could be, "you cut your hair!". I looked around and saw no one there. I went back to mucking and then in my head I got a sudden flash of a long beautiful white tail flowing and the impression of great pride. I wondered at that when I heard the voice again, "You should have left it like mine, it is much prettier that way." I snapped my head up and found myself eye to eye with Stormy standing in the stall across from me, staring at me very intently without a movement.

I thought I was crazy. Immediately I was told in an offended voice, I most certainly was not talking to myself. I looked up and he was still staring at me with his ears twisted in disgruntlement. I left it at that for a moment and then decided to try talking with him like I had been taught, and for an afternoon I had the best time cleaning stalls I ever have. I have not been "alone" since. I can find my friends and companions and share with them, and of course when you want privacy that is always there too.

For a more practical early conversation to show that there can be quite a bit of proof to back up what you find and hear, I can relate a brief tale about another of my horses, Ike. I was cleaning the barn up for a show and was in the restroom, running water to mop the tack room, when I felt like there was thunder in my head and a large image of Ike's dun face appeared as if he were standing nose to nose with me and he was adamant that I pay attention. I was so shocked I just stood there, and I got the impression that I needed to call home. I was worried yet I had felt no fear or stress from Ike, only the requirement that I pay attention NOW. (And for him this is normal, in our 6 years together he has shown every side of a very strong personality.) So I called home and asked my mother if she was ok, and so forth. She said she was fine, I asked if Ike was ok, that I had gotten a huge demand from him in irritation that he be heard. She went to the back and looked out the window into the pasture to see Ike banging his hoof against his water tank, which was empty.

There are hundreds of funny, sad, loving and twisty tales I have gained from this gift and not enough paper in the world to write them. I am blessed and look forward to helping however I can. I hope the light that their companionship brings to my life is the same in yours.
