variations of    5 Agorot      (km#157)

remarks

where to check

Throughout the years ,
the "5 Agorot" was minted in 3 major variations .

At 1985 - 2001 , the square was made of 19 lines ,
and the "THICK   5" was used .
Starting from 2002 the "THIN   5" is used .
And at 2007 , (last minting year) ,
the nunber of lines was reduced to 18 .

To ditinguish between the thin/thick versions ,
check the "head" and the "tail" of the digit .

remarks

where to check

Throughout the years ,
the "10 Agorot" was minted in many many variations .

one of the points of change ,
is the hight of the square at the Reverse .
In total , there are at least 6 different hights ,
and it appears that at some specific years ,
more than a single hight was used !!
Leaving us a lot of variations to find .

No one mapped this unknown territory yet ,
so , go ahead and do it ,
and please , please let me know your findings .

10 Agorot - 1986      (km#158)

remarks

where to check

At 1986 , the "10 Agorot" coins were minted
in BERN and in JERUSALEM .

To distinguish between the variations ,
you need to check the upper & lower ends
of the "island" in the middle of the zero .

And check also the outline of the digit zero ,
(especially the lower-right corner) .

10 Agorot - 2001      (km#158)

remarks

where to check

At 2001 , the "10 Agorot" coins were minted
in CHILE and in KOREA .

It's easy to distinguish between the variations ,
just check the inner side of the digit zero ,
to see if it's a curved or a straight line .

10 new-Agorot - 1981      (km#108)

remarks

where to check

At 1981 , the "10 new-Agorot" coins
were minted in 3 Mints .

At Jerusalem the script was minted correctly ,
but at Paris , because they can't read Hebrew ,
they minted one letter in a mirror-like fashion .

Below the value 10 , you can see 3 Hebrew words ,
check the most-right letter in the middle word .

1/2 new-Sheqel - 2002      (km#159)

remarks

where to check

At 2002 , the "1/2 new-Sheqel" coins were minted
in Finland and in Chile .

If your coins are new and in excellent condition ,
you will see that the Chile coins have a deeper strike
compare to shallow strike of the Finland coins .

If your coins aren't UNC , don't panic   :-)
Check the 2 most-left letters in the hebrew year .
If you notice a "tail" on each letter , it's from Chile ,
and if these "tails" are very very short ,
the coin was minted in Finland .
