The Life of an Education Student
Here are a few serious and not so serious things I've learned now that I have a semester and a half of Education classes under my belt.

1. Although the work isn't necessarily hard they more than make up for it in quantity!
2. Instead of telling us things they demonstrate it. This means that in some classes we get to act like kids again
3. No-matter what they teach you in class you don't feel at all prepared to actually go out and teach until your actually out their doing it.
4. Carrying around the curriculum guides needed for my 'teaching methods' classes is good weight training

As a part of point two everyone in my science methods class has to do a science fair project to present to class. here is mine

Now as part of point one I must turn off my computer and get some work done.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
Mood:  happy
Well school's out for Christmas I actually have time to post something. I love Christmas break, the smell of a freash Christmas tree and baking ... not getting up till 11 because there is no school, best of all is no Caffeteria food. I can't believe that winter conference is coming so quick, I can't wait to see all the c4c people I know.

Student teaching is AWESOME
Wow I can't believe how long it's been. Time has just flown by. Student Teaching has taken up a bunch of my time leaving no time on a computer where I can actually write a blog. A one sentence summary of my student teaching would be "I miss it already".

My bible study is going through a book called "Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing His Will" we aren't that far into it but already its a great book. It really bringing home the point that its not necessarily about God's plan for MY life that's important but God's plan to use me to fulfill the greater picture.

blog amnesia
What is blog amnesia you ask? Well its when all those witty, wonderful, and interesting tidbits stories, and thoughts (basically anything blog worthy)leaves your mind the second you sit down to actually write something in your blog. I think I suffer from blog amnesia. When I'm at school, work or even at the computer I have all these interesting things to say but once I sign on to blog its all gone I don't know where all these ideas go but they sure disappear in a hurry

OK so now I feel old
It seems like only yesturday that I was in high school and only slightly longer than yesturday ago that I was in grade nine. Well the other day I was helping put students marks into the computer and I noticed that the program had the gr. 9 student's birthdays and well I was half-way through elementary school before they were born. Its not that I mind being this age its just the the time between highschool and now went so fast that it seems I can't be that much older. Its funny how time works like that

student teaching
Mood:  not sure
its weird for the first time in my life I'm in a classroom setting but I'm not a student!!! Having to remember that I'm miss Miller. I still feel completly out of place there but I do feel more prepared to teach a lesson. The other thing that is really different is that it is a large highschool (enormous compared to my highschool but actually small compared to other city schools). it really is quite a different environment to me.

Why did the Chicken Cross the Road?
Various well known people on why the chicken crossed the road.

so why did the chicken cross the road...

GRANDPA
In my day, we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Someone told us that the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough for us

CAPTAIN KIRK
To boldly go where no chicken has gone before.

FREUD
The fact that you are at all concerned that the chicken crossed the road reveals your underlying sexual insecurity.

COLONEL SANDERS
I missed one?

EINSTEIN
Did the chicken really cross the road or did the road move beneath the chicken?

and my favorite
DR. SEUSS
Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes! The chicken crossed the road, But why it crossed, I've not been told!

too small !?!
"Hmmmm it almost seems like this campus feels too small" I guess this means I'm not so small town anymore. In high school I never thought I would say this about ANY location. but then I moved to Saskatoon and got used to having so many things at my finger tips. I got used to being on Campus there and Campus had almost all the amentities of a small town right there. Finnally I lived in Calgary for 3 months and dealt with the C-train and crazy mobs on the C-train, driving for what seems like for ever and only seeing houses, houses and more houses. Now I'm here in this City less then a quarter the size of S'toon on a teeny tiny Campus and I'm thinking this feels too small for me. Its amazing how much things change in the course of only 4 years

Monday, 11 September 2006

Hey everyone. I hope your school year is getting off to a good start. Now that I've got myself settled in Brandon(and found a computer lab). I thought it was time for an update. I moved all my stuff to Brandon a week ago. It really is a nice small campus, alot smaller then what I'm used to. So far one of the hardest things has been constantly comparing BU with the UofS and also comparing the people i meet with my friends back home. Slowly I'm starting to just enjoy being here and remembering that where I am doesn't matter as long as it's where God wants me and I am allowing God to use me and seeking his plan for my life. I've just finnished my first day of classes and had three days of orientation for first year ed students last week. As we've been told all the things were expected to do I've been alternating between "oh no what did I get myself into" and "this might be a challenge but its going to be a fun one".

On a different note before i left for Brandon I was listening to random songs on my computer and came across Michael W. Smtih's "Pray for Me" the song just seemed so appropriate. we had an amazing summer where we shared our lives with each other but as project ended we had to go our seperated ways back to our own campuses, and it was sad to have to leave but we are still united by our love for Christ and our willingness to serve him. Ultimatly though that wasn't the end we will get to see each other again. So like the song as "Pray for me and Ill pray for you
Pray that we will keep the common ground" I'm praying for you guys and that you continue to serve the Lord with your whole heart and keep him as your first love.

It's so sad to leave
Well I'm almost done packing I'm going home to Watrous tomorrow and then its off to Brandon. It's so hard to leave all my friends, a city I know and love, and an apartment I've lived in (and apparently accumulated a lot of stuff in) for two years but in must be done. I'm also excited though to be working on my education degree, I'm one step closer to have a 'real' job which means no more Subway yaaa! well this isn't a very good christening for my new blog but it will have to do.
