The sunflower brought a tremedous light on a subject which isn't acknowledged as much as slavery. The Halocaust was such a horrifying event in history to not only the suvivors, but to the new generations who have little or no knowledge of prominent historical facts. The purpose of the Halocaust was to create a totalitarian society by the exploitation and execution the Jewish people who was blamed for the misfortunes of the Germans; using the most derogatory and inhumane practices. Through Weisental's experience we learn alot about conformity, relgion, sympathy, remorse, forgiveness, silence, death, destruction, hatred and the day to day struggle with your own psyche as to what was you moral obligation to your people and person who's asking forgiveness although he aided in the demise of your people.
