The Garrotxa Back to the 'Places to Go' page

(It's pronounced 'garrotcha')

aerial picture    An early morning view!

Does this look familiar? Does it remind you of a volcano? If not, it should do, because that's what it is!

The bluish tinge in the crater is not water; it's frost in the shaded part of the crater as the sun rises. The areas that look like lakes of blue water are also patches of frost in the shadow of the high ground to their east

The Garrotxa is Catalunya's volcanic area.
