The Atlanta
Hawks selected Stacey in the first round (ninth pick overall) of the 1991 NBA
Draft. With 2,011 points he was the school's No. 3 career scoring leader and
played more games in a Rebel uniform (145) than anyone else. His 137 games
started is also a record. In 1992 against Golden State he scored NBA’s
6,000,000th point. He ranks seventh on Atlanta’s all-time steals list (570). In
the first five seasons of his career he missed 20 games. After being the only
first-year player in the league to start all 82 games he became First Team
All-NBA Rookie selection in 1991-92. During the 1993-94 campaign he led the
Hawks in free throws made (333) and attempted (436). As a beginner he was
Atlanta’s third-leading scorer (13.3), second-leading rebounder (5.1) and steals
leader (1.5). He had his best-season in 1993-94 when he started all 82 regular
season and 11 playoff games for the Hawks. For a provisional first-round pick
beginning with the 1998 NBA Draft he was traded by the Hawks with Grant Long to
the Detroit Pistons. In 1996 he was Detroit's most favorable second-round pick.
He was signed as an unpaid agent by Trail Blazers in 1999. |
