Warning Signs
Following is a list of signs that you or someone you know might be suicidal:
- Talk or thoughts of suicide or death
- Changes in personality or mood
- Changes in sleeping patterns (insomnia or sleeping too much)
- Changes in eating habits or weight
- Withdrawal from friends and activities
- Taking unusual risks (reckless driving, sexual promiscuity, etc.)
- Drug abuse
- Final arrangements -- saying goodbye, giving away favorite possessions
- Inability to concentrate
- Writing a suicide note
- Running away from home
- Delusions or hallucinations
- Physical symptoms (headaches, etc.)
- Neglecting personal appearance
- Fellings of worthlessness, hopelessness, discouragement, guilt, shame, etc.
- Decline in performance in school or other activities
