Getting Help For Yourself

If you are feeling suicidal or if you think you might hurt yourself, you should seek help immediately. In an emergency you should call 911 or go to an emergency room.

Sometimes a suicidal individual can seem very calm and collected to the untrained eye, so if the police or hospital staff refuse to help you, you should be persistent. If they still won't help you, you should ask an adult friend or family member to stay with you until you can get professional help. (You're less likely to hurt yourself if someone is with you.)

You can also go to a friend, family member, youth group leader, teacher, clergy person, or another adult you trust and ask them for help.
