Heart Worm

Heart Worm

Heart Worm is the most dangerous parasite. If not prevented it will stop your dog's heart from beating (fatal). It is transmitted by mosquito (most common in mosquito areas of the country), and the adult worm will lodge in your dog's heart. In regions that contain a lot of mosquitoes, they will ask you to have your dog tested twice a year for heart worm.  And if your dog has the worm, it can only be gotten rid of at it's early stage.
You can prevent Heart Worm by using a daily or monthly preventative. But Corgi lovers, choose wisely, for Corgis have nasty reactions to some brands.
