to get this shade, I used the
following steps:
-
base with Oiled Leather (Reaper, a
brown with red in it). Make sure that all of the dips & hollows
between the hair strands are covered.
-
take some Scorched Brown (Citadel,
dark brown) and thin it with Magic Wash to the point where it looks
like dirty water. Mop this liquid over the hair. The intent is to get
it to settle between the strands while leaving very little color on
the high points.
-
this still looked a little too light,
so I mixed another shade color consisting of Scorched Brown and Walnut
(Reaper, a very dark brown). Once I mopped this on, I noticed
right away that it was too dark. So when this layer dried I put a
second wash of v. dilute Oiled Leather over it to lighten the general
color tones.
-
after everything had dried, I
drybrushed a layer of Oiled Leather on to lighten the color even more.
-
finally I lightly dusted the highest
points with Hawkwood (Reaper, a beautiful golden brown)
