The areas circled in black
pen are pitted, and can be seen if the above scans are enlarged. I've also
taken scans of the pitted areas directly, which can be seen
here.
This character looked fairly
complicated, which was why I was interested in him. Unfortunately he
became a lot more complicated than I had expected. After finishing his
touch up priming (I had done the original spray priming on a very windy
day last summer, and spots on him had received none at all), he looked a
little rough but not too bad. But when I started to put layers of paint
on him, it became apparent that he had suffered some casting problems.
The resultant pits aren't that huge, but they do stand out. I thought of
filling the holes over the existing paint, but I'd probably be better
off just tossing him into the stripper bucket and starting again. I've
got some Squadron White Putty that should work well for the repair job.
