All patients should have the right to health care appropriate to their needs, whether for acute, primary or community care and regardless of their ability to pay.
*patients' Association Charter 1991.
The Skin Care Campaign endorses and supports this statement.
The Skin Care Campaign further believes that people with a skin condition have special needs that distinguish them from the general population. These needs encompass more than just the medical management of skin conditions and people with skin conditions should be valued as whole persons with the same aspirations as any other members of the public and the same rights and needs to live a normal and full life.
Skin conditions affect people of all ages and it is important that there is recognition of their evolving needs as they progress through life.
The Skin Care Campaign is an open alliance of patient groups, health professionals and other organisations with a common interest throughout the United Kingdom.
The purpose of the S.C.C. is to encourage and enable people to look after their skin properly and to assure the highest possible standards of health care provision for people with skin diseases.
