A geriatric or gerontologic nurse practitioner is a specialist in care of older adults and their families. As such, I can work with hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, or elderly patients and their loved ones on :

• comprehensive physical and mental health assessments
• monitoring of medical problems
• behavioral care planning
• medication evaluation
• lifestyle modifications
• placement counseling
• transitional care issues
• improving family and individual coping
• support group work

I am especially oriented toward issues surrounding cognitive impairment (i.e. Alzheimer's) and have done my dissertation research on stress in caregivers. Much of my current research deals with psychoactive medication use and transitional care.

While we're on that topic, in addition to billing myself as a GNP I also would like to emphasize that I'm a clinical researcher, available for consults and conduct of health care studies. In that area I can:

1. assist with all phases of individual or institutional research
2. advise on methodolgies
3. design questionnaires and surveys
4. develop statistical analysis plan
5. interpret study results
6. prepare reports, papers, and presentations
7. assist with all phases of grantwriting

Lastly, I am also do legal work, and have done both plaintiff and defense cases in hospitals and nursing homes related to geriatric care.
